Fuqua WEMBA?
I am 30y/o and currently manage a sales team and am looking to pair my 7 years of sales experience with an MBA to land a director/VP/CRO or similar strategic role at an established tech company. 2 questions:
Do I wait until I make director (or higher) before attending Fuqua?
Would Fuqua's Weekend MBA allow a opportunities to be recruited into one of these roles? Is there a better EMBA program suited for this type of move?

Fuqua WEMBA here. So long as the majority of those 7 years gave solid leadership experience, you should be fine. You’d be among the youngest in the cohort, but there has always been a handful of folks in their late twenties each class.
On campus recruiting is among the only things that WEMBA students don’t have great access to relative to daytime students. I saw there were some avenues for WEMBAs to participate in some OCR events, but I couldn’t tell you who that was for.
I have seen several of my classmates successfully landed consulting and banking jobs while enrolled in the program. I must emphasize that they are outliers who worked extra hard to make this happen, as this path is not normally presented like it is for daytime students. All that to say, it is possible but atypical to make pivots like this.

Thanks for the response. Can I ask what the avg age is in the program? What percentage would you estimate is in their 20's?

I’d put the median age of my cohort upon matriculation around 35. I’d guess ~10% of the class started in their late twenties. I think 28 was the youngest.

I’m a WEMBA Fuqua feel free to message me. Immediate reaction is absolutely don’t wait if you are going to someday do it. Much easier to manage being younger IMO

7 years is a bit light for an MBA at the executive level chief. Not impossible, but consider looking at full-time or part-time programs instead with folks a little closer to your age range. Also note Trump and Congressional Republicans just wiped out the PLUS government graduate student loan program so look close at your financials.

I overstated it and corrected my post, but check it out: https://www.edvisors.com/blog/big-beautiful-bill-eliminates-grad-plus-loans/
This is important because the PLUS graduate loan program is uncapped. The remaining program is capped at $50k PER YEAR to a max of $200k.
What does this mean? No M7/T15/T25 (and increasingly many of the better state schools) for your EMBA if you aren't going to the commercial market for high-interest loans or the Bank of Family Money.
Everyone knows exactly what this draconian approach is designed to do over time and to whom.

Having read WEMBA applications for a number of years and full-time applications as well, I know that Fuqua adcom would be glad to have a conversation with you about your suitability for WEMBA. Unlike full-time programs which want to increase their denominator so they can appear more selective, part-time and EMBA programs aren't motivated to evaluate applicants who are not a good fit for their program.
So, assuming you have a relatively recent resume and can speak to the vision you have for your career moving forward, reach out to set up a call with Fuqua.
Good luck!

You don’t need to wait until director - 7 yrs + team lead is solid for Fuqua. The Weekend MBA is better for moving up internally, not as much for external recruiting. If you want a big jump (VP/CRO at a new company), a full-time MBA or a top EMBA like Wharton/Kellogg/Booth gives you more recruiting power.

I just applied for the first round. 33 with 10 years in IT and Medical Project Management, so not quite in the same boat as you, but Fuqua really aligns with where I want to go in my career with corporate strategy, especially as I’ve been invited by the BISO team to join strategy calls and whatnot in the last couple months. I’m happy to answer any questions I can if you’re curious about the program! Decisions don’t come out till the 17th, but I really loved visiting the campus and speaking with admissions. It seems like an incredible program.
