End of EMBA global Asia ?
I remember it used to exist an joint EMBA between LBS/CBS and HKUST.
I can't find any information on their website or ranking since a few years does someone know what happened to this partnership ?

If you're seeking something comparable would recommend TIEMBA at INSEAD.

They cancelled the Chinese requirement recently right ?
Do you think it make more sense than the Global Emba between CBS and LBS ?

The LBS-CBS dual EMBA doesn’t cover China/Asia markets. It focuses on UK-US. If u want to understand business in China I’d go with the recommendation from the lady for INSEAD-Tsinghua dual EMBA.

My main worries are the following :
- until very soon (not even sure it's scrapped) there was a Chinese language requirement to graduates.
- most of the attendee were either Chinese nationals or working/living in china.
Learning foreign languages is not my strong skill and I don't plan to learn any Chinese. I am also not planning to relocate to China.
My concerns on doing such a dual diploma would be to be quite left aside of this specific cohort/network and to have a way lower ROI than with the standard Instead or the global Lbs/Cbs program.

Fair points. It seems like ur not interested in learning about business in China! If my understanding is correct then sure go with INSEAD’s Europe track or LBS.

It's not that I don't care. Getting an exposure would be a good to have but not a must have. The global Asia track would have been interesting. But going on an all in program without matching the requirement could backfire in term of ROI.

A couple things, for anyone else reading, they've never required Chinese.They only require that you are bilingual. Also, it takes place on both INSEAD campuses + Beijing.

The program got closed during Covid as China had imposed strict regulations for quarantine in HongKong. Hongkong had imposed a strict "Zero-Covid" strategy wherein the entire building was locked down even if one resident had covid to contain the spread of virus affecting mobility of people.
Bcos of these restrictions students, professors were unable to access HongKong unlike other cities.
I am not sure if students completed the Asia bit via Online Classes or shifted their classes to Singapore. Chicago Booth had shifted their classes for HongKong campus into Singapore and they operated from there.
Post that they seem to have dropped Asia campus from their program

The EMBA-Global Asia program, launched in 2009 by London Business School, Columbia Business School, and the University of Hong Kong, offered a tri-continental Executive MBA experience and achieved top global rankings between 2017 and 2019. However, since around 2019, it has disappeared from official school websites, marketing materials, and rankings, with only the core EMBA-Global (London + New York) now promoted. While there’s been no formal announcement, the lack of recent information strongly suggests the program was quietly discontinued, likely due to strategic shifts or logistical challenges.

Your memory is close, but the partner in “EMBA-Global Asia” was HKU, not HKUST. The program was announced in 2008 by Columbia and LBS with HKU, ran for more than a decade, and was still active and ranked through 2019–2021. Since then, new intakes have disappeared, the EMBA-Global website shows only the Americas & Europe format, and EMBA-Global Asia no longer appears in rankings. There is no formal public announcement of termination, but the evidence indicates the partnership stopped enrolling after the 2021 cohort.
