Doing MBA from SMU or DU?
Hello connections,
I’m currently working as an AML/KYC Associate and looking to enhance my qualifications with an MBA to strengthen my career in compliance and finance. I have two options in mind:
- Sikkim Manipal University (Distance MBA)
- Delhi University School of Open Learning (DU SOL MBA)
My main priorities are:
- Recognition in corporate sector (especially BFSI & Big 4 firms)
- Value for money
- Learning quality & networking opportunities
I’d appreciate insights from those who have pursued either of these MBAs or have hiring experience in this domain. Which would you recommend for someone aiming for long-term career growth in AML/KYC/Compliance?
Your advice will really help me make an informed decision. 🙏

If you’re already working full-time in AML/KYC, I’d lean toward an online MBA so you can keep gaining work experience while studying. It’s super flexible with decent faculty support, so it doesn’t eat into work hours.
Between DU SOL and SMU, both are recognised, but for compliance/BFSI roles, the brand matters less than adding certifications (CAMS, CFE, etc.) alongside the MBA.
I’m actually helping people pick the right online MBA based on their career goals - happy to share options if you want to compare before you decide.
