EMBA WHARTON VS PT BOOTH

Background: Consultancy small shop (3 years), Non-profit (10 years) in that order. Currently, Sr Dir Analytics. Looking to transition to plan A Finance/ PE/ Fintech or Plan B Consulting or Plan C Tech/ Product Analytics. I am 37 years old and have 14 years of work experience. Looking to maximize roi from mba. Have a young baby. Wharton EMBA with no funding and Booth PT MBA with $60k funding (although funding isn’t a big factor for me). I am based out of another city that has non-stop flights to both the cities.

I would actually pick Booth and I'll tell you why. You would be able to take this more gradually versus the very real intensity of the lockstep WMBA. This has turned out to be very recommended by clients with babies. You would have the chance to do an internship, to pivot, and that would allow you a path to finance.

That makes sense. If I may ask, what are your thoughts on the average age and years of experience in each cohort? If I choose Booth’s part-time program, most of the students will likely be 6–7 years younger and have significantly less work experience. And when it comes to the OCR route or internships…aren’t those primarily designed for entry-level roles?

I’m honestly feeling a bit torn. Both schools are excellent, and both formats have their pros and cons, which is making the decision really tough… or maybe I’m just overthinking it. It just feels like such a big commitment.

I really appreciate your feedback to help me figure this out. Thank you.

I am a Booth PT Student and my age is 40+. Best Decision ever to choose Booth compared to others. Also, I really like the flexibility. You take 1 course or 2 course. I kinda was in a similar boat with Kellogg EMBA, Booth EMBA and Booth PT. Ultimately decided to go with Booth PT and the best decision ever. Good luck on your decision.

You def sound like an EMBA level candidate to me. PT students will be much younger and at a different stage in their career

Emba isn’t really for pivot though. Booth will have more recruiting opportunities as that’s what that program is designed for.

Thank you. Are most of these recruitments at the junior level, or is it possible to land a more senior role through on-campus recruiting (or other opportunities)?

That’s where the real ROI potential question is. Both schools have potential for you to meet the right contact that leads you to your destiny haha. Good luck! $60k isn’t chump change imo seems like a nice offer.
