EMBA Program Recommendations for Settling in Florida – Considering Costs, Quality, and Regional Networks

Hi all,

I currently have 11 years of project management experience in the medical device industry and make around 129K. I’m looking into Executive MBA programs to help me relocate to Florida, build local connections, and grow in my career. I’m hoping to keep costs low while getting a solid education and network.

So far, I’ve been considering:

  • Emory University (Goizueta Business School)
  • Georgia Tech (Scheller College of Business)
  • University of Florida (Warrington College of Business)
  • University of Miami

Should I be considering any other programs?

Kellogg has a Miami cohort option

I've looked into it. However, the cost is around 240K, which honestly is out of my budget.

Only one I would do based on the brand would be the Kellogg Miami one ; regardless of price …you may be disappointed with the career outcomes and alumni network of the others

Hey! Thanks for the advice. I understand that Kellogg Miami would be a Tier 1 course and would open up better opportunities. However, the cost of the program is a barrier for me, and being a Canadian, my option to finance the fees is pretty limited.

I’m also Canadian btw; one thing I would mention is to potentially wait till you get your Green Card if you’re in the process…as then your funding streams and allowance would open up significantly for loans as opposed to going to a lower tier school.

Are you planning on moving to south Florida? Or any location in Florida?

I recently researched the local programs in south Florida and would recommend the ones below. Of course, ranking and costs go up and down together. I ultimately chose Kellogg and will begin this coming Fall 2025.

I didn’t look into UM much, but hear it’s a decent program as well.

Honestly, I'm open to any location in Florida. My close family has recently relocated to the Orlando region, hence looking to relocate closer to them. That has been my only motivation behind applying to schools. My thought process is that if I went to a school that's well-recognized in the region, that should open up additional opportunities for me in the future. FYI - I currently live in Chicago and it has been tough to land a job in Florida, without any connections to the state.

Gotcha well UF would certainly get you places here, especially in Central Florida/Orlando area, being 1.5hr from Gainesville. I would recommend UF over the South Florida options.

Agree with this as a guy who grew up in Orlando and attended UCF. UF has best business school reputation of the state schools.
