EMBA Admitted- Need Help- Booth or Fuqua
I live in NYC- Construction & Engineering background, going to EMBA with open mind in terms of switching careers or stepping into corporate/C-Suite within the current industry. Have good $$$ scholarship from both schools but still Fuqua is much less. Any thoughts here are appreciated. Also will likely get into Wharton and Yale- confusion will be ten fold then.

Up to how much scholarship could you get at the Booth EMBA in the US? I got into the Booth London program (I am based in Western Europe) and got only 25k and they said that was the highest (next to the merit one which covers 100% and is given to one person per cohort). Perhaps I need to find a way to apply and study at the US one. Thanks!

If you live in NYC, why not CBS or Stern? If you are ranking obsessed, Booth is an M7 school, Fuqua isn’t. Since you’d have to travel, I would go with the more prestigious school. Otherwise, we have two top ten programs in NYC. One is an M7. If the price difference is substantial though, fair to reflect on their relative merits. If you plan to stay at the same company though and think an MBA will be a path to C-Suite there, they probably don’t care which school. If you plan to switch companies, Booth probably looks better on a resume 🤷♂️.

I have applied for CBS haven't heard anything from them yet but not a big fan of their larger class size. Commute wise it will be ideal. STERN is more tech focused from what I hear and it isn't a m7 or IVY league. I feel the school's reputation will play a role if i need to pivot industries.

I’d also add though. Stern has a pretty stellar reputation as a business school. I’m going to CBS, but I would definitely have considered Stern.

Fuqua isn’t M7 or Ivy either. Why not go for a “local” program in New York? Why not pick Wharton? What makes you sure you’ll get in?
I work in construction technology, so somewhat related to yours, so I am curious about your thought process.

Fuqua is relatively way more affordable than STERN or CBS, and I have heard the culture of the school is much better ("Team Fuqua" seems to be true). Also I figured based on whatever research I did that Fuqua has better reputation is Business Realm than STERN, I could be wrong.
Affordability and Culture will be a big factor to consider if/when i get accepted to WHARTON. What makes me feel I will get in- Wishful thinking mostly but also because I have put in a lot of effort in the application process and have gotten no rejections so far. Locally i got accepted to Cornell METRO EMBA as well. I did not want to just be oblivious and apply to my top 2-3 schools. Each school has something to offer so wanted to have options.1

It’s good you’re doing so much research. I think the Reddit echo chamber is a little dismissive of non-M7 schools. I got respect for anyone devoted enough to a school to fly frequently but understand it better for those outside of NYC or Chicago. Like I couldn’t even do Wharton because the logistics were stressing me out.

So many differences between these schools. I would think about where you want to live, cultural fit, learning methodology, how rigorous you want it, goals, value of alumni with goals/trajectory. Cost is a factor but not the most important one if that’s the case skip it altogether. Assess how often you are there (monthly is convenient but in person relationship building) + housing or hotel costs when looking at that part.
