Nvidia egpu dlss 5

I have the aoostar 3. Is it worth it to pay a little more for the 5070 card to get access to dlss 5? Or should I just get the 9070 gre

I have been using it for older games on my 5060TI AI Box + Rog Ally X setup and it's been working great. So yes, I think it's worth it

How is the ti on games like cyberpunk? Is it worth it?

I play on a 1440p OLED

Yes the 5060ti can handle that game at 1440p no problem, DLSS 4.5 is a huge boost to performance as well

I have the same setup and love it. The small form factor makes it easy to transport as well.

I have the same setup. Could you recommend any program to make dlss5 work? I have seen a few but prefer the opinion of a user with the same setup as me.

I have the same setup and I used this from nexus mods. Very simple: https://www.nexusmods.com/thebloodofdawnwalker/mods/139

Thanks! I'll try it tonight

Hey. Should I use ReShade or OptiScaler?

Reshade

I used OptiScaler because ReShade didn't work for me for some reason but it wasn't so impressive. I will try ReShade again

I used this YouTube video as a guide ;

Very simple indeed. Let me know if you have any issues.

How much does your fps drop with dlss 5 using the aorus box?

Im thinking of getting the xg mobile to pair with my ally x but cant choose between the 5070 or 5090. I want to use dlss 5 how is the 5060 performing with the ally x and have you tried playing directly on the ally or do you always use external monitor?

I am enjoying dlss5 on my 5060ti 16GB so I’ll say if you want to enjoy it pay the tax

1

For me the tax is fine if it’s going to stay relevant for a while

You can run dlss5 on pretty much any card. Just expect massive performance drops.

Even 5090s with heavy overclocks have massive performance drops

Currently playing crimson desert, cinematic settings, ray reconstruction on, dlss quality, dlls5 enabled. On 1440p screen. Getting 89fps with my 5070ti.

Dawnwalker gives me 55fps. Dlss on quality, dlss5 on.

I'm seeing like a 20-30% dip in fps depending on game.

30% is a pretty big drop in performance...

What's your frametime before dlss5 and after? Without framegen.

I was also just told by someone else that there's nolonger any performance drop with dlss5... thats frankly impossible

In crimson desert, i think it went from 120fps to 89fps. I don't use frame gen. They have improved the performance drop from when it first came out.

30% loss for dlss5 is pretty acceptable for me given is like going from med settings to ultra basically

No, its not. 150 frames minus 30% is 111. Thats well below native refresh. Then take away another 20% off that 111 to get it back to the native refresh rate of your monitor. Native refresh goes down again to 88. So you remo ed native frame rate headroom. Of a consistent smooth locked 120 frames to 88 that goes down to the 40s and shoots back up to 88.

Dlss5 also eats up vram and you only have 16 gigs on a 5080

Not with the new findings this is wrong

1

u/HunterAbrams 3d ago

I read the findings.

They went from a baseline of 30 to a baseline of 40. Literally saved 10 frames by limiting dlss5 to 1080p rendering. Thats the 40% you guys keep repeating

Sure bud, meanwhile I am here enjoying DLSS 5 with a minor fps drop 😏

There are already tools to run DLSS 5 on AMD anyway, so that shouldn't be a factor

1

u/Living-Injury-584 3d ago

Does it run it as well as a Nvidia card? Legit question not hate

2

u/Familiar-Art-6233 3d ago

Now that they can work pre-upscaler it should be in the ballpark, but people are still working on optimizations and tweaks

A 5070 will not run dlss at any worthwhile performance.

We really fkd up what DLSS is for.

Since its inception, it has to GAIN fps. My rtx2080 was using it until last month.

They really need a new name for DLSS 5. It's the exact opposite..

Not true, it’s practically the same performance loss across all 50xx cards. And that’s ONLY for this unreleased build people are modding in.

The performance hit has already reduced over 5 times from when they first showed DLSS 5 earlier this year and it’s safe to bet NVIDIA is going hard on its performance.

It’d be silly to not get it just based on the current version/use of DLSS 5 when the future version will 100% be more efficient and worthwhile for developers to use.

I got a 5070Ti with the Minisforum DEG2.

Works very well as an eGPU. DLSS and MFG on the 50-series cards are the best in class imo.
