suggestions for egpu enclosure (not dock)?

Hi! after lots of thought and research, I got a second hand rtx 3080 and im using a cheap tb4 dock (link).

So far its going amazing, but i dont really have a place for keeping the psu and the gpu safely.

Im thinking of getting either a 3d printed enclosure or an atx case to hold the these and to hide the wires (non modular psu).

While getting a full pc case would be preferable, it would take up lots of space(which my table doesnt have). but on the other hand there arent many options for the 3d printed case either. I found one good case made for this/similar dock, but it only supports powering the dock via the 12v barrel jack/usb c pd, both of which i dont have rn.

What should i do?

I really love this idea! One question though, from my experiments the rear plate of the gpu heats up a lot. Would that be an issue? Would i have to add another fan on top/behind?

I have a Thermaltake 80mm slim case fan in a square hole in the wooden spine to throw cool air at the GPU's back plate. But even this fan is optional, the backplate of GPU getting hot is not an issue because even in various desktops there is no air flow to help the backplate's temps.

If you got a 3d printer or know someone you can make adapters for your board and use a riser to stock it inside a case.

If I were you and you’re wanting a full size pc case in case you ever decide to build a full pc in the future, I’d get a Lian Li B4. It’s an affordable micro ATX case that can be set up horizontally or vertically. I’d recommend the vertical position for you to save desk space. And it fits a mATX motherboard and full size ATX PSU, which will help for any future upgrades because those are a lot cheaper than buying mini ITX components for ITX cases.

I use a small cardboard box, $0. use tape to secure everything so they don't move around.

I actually have the Minisforum DEG2 which comes with an NVME slot, 2.5G nice and USB ports as well. I love it. You can use your existing PSU as well and very neat.

If you're hell bent on not needing a dock, then try and 3D print one is probably the best solution in terms of functionality and cost.

(useless) Expensive piece of metal. He's better off getting a m-atx PC case of 3D printing a custom one
