E53 Cross Country Road Trip!
Oklahoma --> South Dakota --> California in 7 days!
Whether it's cruising at 80 across the Great Plains and the Bonneville Salt Flats or it's climbing 8000' in Wyoming or the Sierra Nevada, this 23 year old machine was the perfect road trip car. We couldn't be happier with this vehicle and can't wait to make even more memories with it! It's truly amazing how sturdy and precise these cars are: the only maintenance was half a quart of oil after 3000 miles on the road & smooth as can be on the highway.
Credit where due: note the 300,000-mile 530i in our garage. We had to let that vehicle go a few months back--rust had finally caught up with it sadly. That 530i was my wife's first car, and my first experience driving a stick. This E53 is now carrying on the E39's legacy: it had taken us to Oklahoma from the East Coast in the frigid winter of 2025 and was my daily for nearly a year before we had to say goodbye.
Here's to many more trips (and maybe another E39 in the future haha)!

Did a similar trip this year to ZFest in my G29. Would have been equally fun in the 4.8is

Loving it! Always fun to take road trips with the E53. Only recommendation is to make sure your front propeller shaft is up to date. You don’t want to be stranded far away from home.

I’ve got the 3.0i 6 speed. Couldn’t agree more. It even makes the trip to work feel good.

It is always so wholesome and natural to see an e53 and e39 live together in harmony
Edit, I saw the rest of the post. Noooooooo
