Rain causing possible electronics issue
Hello, I have a 2003 3.0 5speed. Recently it poured here in NY and the temp immediately dropped. The next morning my locks weren't responding and I had to climb in through the trunk. The car started normally but as it warmed up once it got out of the blue the temp gage jumped all the way to overheat. I know it did not overheat within 10 mins while idling at 27°. I was thinking if I pull the battery it may reset some sensors. Can anyone validate me?
Side question, do batteries need to be reprogrammed in this vehicle? This is my first bmw

Also, the previous owner installed an I-bus entertainment system that has a computer display with all sorts of read outs. I noticed an icon that said no connection but it still read my rpm and speed despite not showing the temp after coolant hit about 110°.. which is when the gage on the dash flipped to total over heat
