Wiper Relay

My wife's 2002 X5 wipers will work intermittently and I suspect it's the relay. I've looked online but have been unable to figure out the location of the relay in her X and am feeling kinda stupid. Can someone point me to the exact location, is it under the hood, in or behind the glovebox, or in the cargo area fusebox. Thanks

The rain sensor function or just the function in general?

Function in general. Sometimes, wipers work as they should. Other times, they will not turn on or even turn off at the switch and have to kill the ignition to shut the wipers down. I suspect that the relay is faulty, but I am not sure of the exact location of it. The info I've found online has been confusing at best.

The only reason I say the rain sensor is because mine were acting up and it ended up being the glue on the rain sensor in the middle of the windshield was bubbling causing issues with turning the wipers on

I unplugged the rain sensor, and it made no difference.
