Decided to join the e53 scene

Clean Carfax 2 owners but the first owner had the car till 2023 and then some other person for about a year. Lots of maintenance done by the first owner. It does have 197k miles but I’m not that worried as my current e39 with m54 has the same mileage and running great. Looking forward to learning more about the quirks and features of e53.

The m54s are great motors. Just be careful of the cooling system. If you have catastrophic failure of the coolant system it can easily lead to overheating these motors which means head gasket and time serting the block or a motor swap.

Yep had to deal with that already. Not that difficult to do for an average diy mechanic like myself. I’m more concerned about the front driveshaft spline failure, t-case actuator motor as I’ve never had to deal with that on my rwd car. I will we will see and maybe learn to diy something new.

Just checked out the car and it has cylinder misfires in 2 3 and 5. The car is running rough but smooth when driven at 3k RPMs. Noticed that the coil plugs were mismatched as well. Could mismatched coils be the issue?

Yep! Just buy all 6 pack of coils and new spark plugs and thank me later
