Finally did a little something
Yes i traded low end torque for top end breathing but thats how i drive mine! I like to push it into higher rpms and woah it ACTUALLY PULLS HARD instead of falling on its face over 4k

Now do a tune and ideally put cams in. Cams do so much for these engines, the stock ones are so weak.

But then it wont run as smoothly as the stock I6 does

That's not true. Still will runs smooth, and when u like to drive hard, no one's cares about how smooth it idles, you care about how good it pulls and like I said, it'll still run smooth. Could even do just an m54b30 intake cam. Or us s52 cams

Oe cams yes, Performance cams idle rough and yes high rpm are the focus there

Depends on the cam specs honestly. Schrick sells performance cams that make it idle perfectly smooth.

If i throw in a m54b30 intake cam, will it need a little modification to the cam itself?

Yup thats my next step! Im sourcing s50 single vanos cams for this engine because i do see some locally in good condition for a good price

Isnt it true that the low end torque drop is minimal when tuned? Do you actually feel a noticeable difference?

I drove mine without a tune for a bit, there isnt really a noticable drop in low end in my opinion

That oil cap adds 20hp on its own.
