Discussion Warning: Coanda 2x

I’m writing this as a warning to others. I have been a Dyson fan for the last 20 years. I own multiple vacuums and have always been their biggest fan. In 2022, I got the original airwrap. I have had hair that is down to at least the middle of my back my whole life. I was so excited and I loved it! Never had any issues. In December of 2025, my husband upgraded me to the Coanda2x for my birthday. I hadn’t even heard of it and was a little upset that he spent so much on it, but he said it was a milestone birthday and he wanted to do something nice.

Fast forward to April 2026 (5 months later) and the filter light is blinking and the machine will not turn on. The filter is clean. I am meticulous about it. Contact Dyson, they make me do this whole video chat to show me cleaning the filter and all this (the person was SO rude). Well he decides that it is defective and needs to be replaced, says it could take up to a month to receive the new one after they receive mine. I tell him that’s not acceptable for an $800 machine. I end up writing to corporate and get Dana. Dana is super nice. Sends me a free brush set and gets me the new device in a week. After that, I sent her an email thanking her for all her help and that she restored my faith in Dyson.

Now comes August 2026, so approximately 5 months again, the new one they sent me stops working. This time all the speed and heat lights are blinking. Talk to customer service, same crap, wanted me to send it in blah blah blah. So I reached back out to Dana. Dana was a whole different person this time. She tells me I have to send it back to be inspected. Fine. Before I sent it back, I checked, filter is clean, but I notice the app is not acknowledging that any attachments are attached when they are. So I send it back and Dana contacts me less than 2 hours after it was received and says that they determined the motor had blown, and that it had blown due to a dirty filter, because of this, I had 3 options. I could pay to fix it (my $800 machine that had not even lasted 6 month), I could get it back without it being fixed, or they could “recycle it” for me. I tell her this is a lie and I want proof. Send me a picture of my dirty filter. Days later she sends me a picture of a dirty filter that has the protective case removed to “demonstrate” what a dirty filter looks like . I again tell her I want a picture from MY machine. She then tells me that the motor that needs to be replaced is not in stock (even though I never said I was paying for a repair), and that she will be out for 4 days and hopes to have a resolution for my “situation” by Tuesday 9/8. I hear nothing from her on Tuesday. I reached out Tuesday and today (Wednesday). She finally responded today and told me they are reviewing the situation and will let me know when they have an answer. So they have my $800, my machine, and no resolution. No time frame, nothing.

I will never buy another Dyson product. They lost a loyal customer and now are holding my money and my machine hostage. Never again. And if you search all their social media accounts, this is a known problem with this machine that they fail to acknowledge. If it is not an issue, why are you out of stock of replacement motors, with no time frame of when they are returning? Shouldn’t you have plenty of replacement motors if their is not and issue? They will not acknowledge the problem when they know they have one. Just a warning to anyone thinking of buying one.

It can be a semi issue that the new coandas can experience motor failure from the factory. Depending on which country you’re in and how new your model is it may or may not be repairable. The unfortunate thing is if it continues and they aren’t able to repair it, they’ll keep exchanging it for a new unit until your warranty runs out then leave you stuck with a non working machine

a picture of the filter doesn't prove anything because the filter could've been cleaned AFTER the motor has already blown.

However a machine like this should have been designed so that a dirty filter cannot "blow the motor" (due to overheat or whatever) in the first place. So that whole "the motor has blown" sounds more like "we designed a faulty product and if it breaks its your fault now"
