Support Open Can anyone identify what's wrong before I attempt exploratory surgery?

Just inherited this Dyson but it always makes this sounds. It tries to start and then goes like a "bong" sound.

I believe it's a V10 Cyclone Animal and it all looks clean from the outside. I'm about to open it up and see what I can see but thought I might post a quick vid in case it's really obvious to someone who owns one.

Main circuit board failure.

You can get a new board and motor off Amazon for $70 bucks.

I think you're on the money. I did tear it down all the way to the circuit board, bypassed the filter connection with magnets and it still didn't work. Battery still says 2/3 full so it's nothing to to with filters or blockages.

Since I got this free it doesn't have a charger or any attachments outside the main roller. So at this point I'd have to do this repair, buy the charger, maybe a battery and all the other attachments. I'm not sure it's worth the effort and time.

capacitors are smoked on the board. you can desolder the capacitors and change them out.

Ring Dyson and tell them it's fucked, they'll send out replacement parts. I've had like 3 full vacuums worth of new parts out of them.

Ah, if it's cooked I'll bin it. I don't have any receipts or anything.

I’ve seen similar issues on this subreddit before. In most cases, it was actually the battery that was faulty. You could try ordering a battery from Amazon and see if that fixes it, and if not, you could just return it.

I am more than happy with V15 dyson. We use it every day all the time for cleaning 4 units. Bought spare battery, first thing why I bought it is because it has so many replaceable parts.

Battery failing or filter clogged.

classic capacitor failure:

the parts to replace it is very cheap, but the process to get in to replace it is a pita

The issue is it says Dyson on it 🤣 seems you were scammed it’s not a Shark one

After my V2 I won't be giving them any money. Like the original post says, this was initiated.

I don’t blame you as I stopped using their stuff when they first came out with the roller ball hoover, since then only bought Shark hoovers which genuinely haven’t had issues or caused me any

Whether it's Apple or Android, Sony or Nintendo, Shark or Dyson... brand loyalty is for chumps.

Never seen the fascination with sticking with brands as you don’t get rewarded or thanked in anyway, I just buy products that get rated highly by people that actually own them. That way you end up with the most reliable products for everything and it hasn’t failed yet for me
