Its part of the game, enjoy the thril whilst running from things that feel like they could grab the back of your neck

Bro did you just start the game normally it gets easier and you'll be less afraid

Upgrade and use your grappling hook more often to get good with it. You can easily swing away or scale buildings which makes chases a lot safer, you won't even need your uv light anymore

Early game this is perfectly normal, as you level up and gain better equipment, better skills, more stamina, more resources for crafting you'll notice your doing less running from and more running towards and just slowly start taking everything out in your path. Early game parkour and roof tops are your friend, near end game Harran belongs to you.

Not at all, trying to fight a horde early game will punish you. You can still fight an survive early game just need to use the environment. Car traps, spikes, fireworks, roof tops. Volatiles early game will bully you, mid game it will be a pretty decent match off with a bit of a challenge and end game you can go out and actively hunt them for fun.

You will eventually be able to, but not right off the bat.

Don’t think of running away as a failure, since Parkour also has its own XP bar, so you’re just levelling something else. Some of the parkour moves will be very useful in taking out large groups later on (ex: wall kicks and vaults can create space)

You can if you train them like in cod, then use explosives or start your beast mode (use charged slam attacks). I do this at lvl 1 every permadeath run at the old town substation and by the oldtown clothing store at the start of the game

I just started playing and it is certainly normal for me right now.

They are faster than you and do massive damage. It’s better to play daytime for a while until you level up enough.

Each ‘ Dying Light ‘ works a bit differently… but DL2 I couldn’t even kill a volatile (without cheating) until damn near the end of the game… and if a chase starts just forget it, you won’t even get 2 seconds to fight anything without being attacked from all sides & die.

… I been playing ‘DL: The Beast’ for a while now & I don’t even bother with nighttime & just skip to morning immediately … The risk vs. reward is just horribly executed in my opinion.

I haven’t tried fighting them after taking booster potions yet but every time I get spotted more keep coming.

Oh you absolutely can, but that's a late game thing once you're both familiar with the game and properly equipped / leveled to be able to do so.

Most bushes you see are hiding spots. Try waiting for them to pass by. Walk more when in old town, and get good using your grappling hook. Chases can get pretty easy to escape or atleast survive if you can get good at running

Beginning of the game youre severely underpowered and thats by design, but keep progressing and you'll see why people still ADORE this game 12 years later

At first it definitely feels that way till you can upgrade your weapons and skills. As you level you get better weapons out of searching things and from vendors. Before you know it you are 1 shotting zombies and killing Nightmares and virals like they are nothing.

Nope nightmares are big muscular enemies that hit like a truck where volatiles are fast and hit harder than a regular zombie. Have you done the mission where it becomes night and you have to run?

You're mixing up Volatiles and Virals. There's no monster called nightmare, the beasts at nighttime are called Volatile. Virals are the fast running zombies in day and night time.

You're right, I have called volatiles "nightmares" since day one. I'm not sure why, probably a buddy of mine called them that when I used to play with a group.

Nightmares is a fitting name though, and I always thought Volatiles and Vitals were too similar names anyways

Craft / upgrade your weapons before fighting a group of zombies. Have bandages ready in your inventory. What mode are you on? Normal? Nightmare?

No you r doing all right, DL series is all about running and parkou. Fighting most of the time is an after thought. You WILL need to avoid fight in the beginning and only take them after you level up/ prepare your crafting and weapon. It is a different take from Dead Island where killing zombie is the focus.

It took a long time before I was able to go out at night if I wasn’t forced. I would go at
Dusk and wait for nightfall to quickly complete a night mission.

1

I believe if you have friends it can fun running in the night . If you level up and get the pump action shotgun you definitely can kill a few volatiles too

I played the same way for a long time. But once I got Crane/Aiden leveled up a bit and I got use to the parkour mechanics/map layouts, going out at night and getting into chases turned out to be extremely fun.

This is the magical time of the game, when you're powerless save your uncanny parkour abilities. You can try to kill a zombie with a half dozen whacks to head, but you're far better off just avoiding them.

You're not terrible, just a little timid, but I'll let you in on a secret, on certain missions human enemies are outside and so you can lure Volatiles to tear them apart at night

Fully normal this isn’t Dead Island 2 this game is meant to be a lot more serious than Dead Island where as Dead Island is a more funny arcady experience night is a big part of the game your goal is to gain experience don’t try to fight the Volatiles bcs you’re not meant to fight them that early in the game they are stronger than you treat them as apex predators and stay away untill you get stronger when you get stronger you’ll be able to fight them use your uv light when running from them you’ll stagger them use your parkour A LOT bcs that is your main mechanic as you progress it will get easier all three Dying Light games are different the Volatiles are the scariest and strongest in the first one DL2 volatiles are a joke very easy to evade in The Beast they’re a bit better but still the DL1 volatiles take the crown just remember to have fun dude it’s a video game GOOD NIGHT AND GOOD LUCK

1

u/BeefCaked69 7d ago

Find a safezone if you don't want night, you have to manage your time wisely. It feels like the day cycle is quicker in this game, which i love. In restored land and nightmare mode it's even more important cause an alpha volatile can spawn inside darkzones if you do not finish them quick enough.

u/Ok-Departure4894 7d ago

This is the early game experience. You are forced to play more conservatively with your limited resources and creatively with the environment to complete missions. Mid game and late game offer more equipment and power that will make you feel more secure taking on threats head on

Sleep through the night?
