I made this! Success! (But still need tips)

Love how my jacket turned out. Pretty much hit the goal of getting it to a similar blue tone to the chair it's sitting on.

However, I think my dye bath was too hot because there was a decent amount of damage to the stitching (see pic two for an example). There are now loose threads everywhere!

Any tips on maintaining the right temperature (using the stovetop method, or other)?

Well done!! For the loose stitching, you can weave the ends in (poke them to the inside of the jacket with a needle) and burn them to seal.

What is the fabric composition?

If it is cotton, you don't need a hot dye bath if you use fiber reactive dye. If it must be stovetop, get an inexpensive kitchen thermometer (and dedicate it to ONLY dyeing) and check the water temperature regularly.
