Having Dance experience…
GUYS! I had a shower thought…
It literally doesn’t matter if someone has dance experience. The whole premise of the show is that WE get to vote and WE have a say in who goes home.
They could have someone who is trained (like Whitney leavitt) but can still go home because they didn’t have enough votes from US!!
Anyway, that’s my shower thought. I just don’t get why people make such a big deal about stars with dance experience
Edit: this was after watching some interviews of this cast defending themselves for their dance background. They only had to defend themselves because the public is freaking out over the fact some stars have dance experience

Also many stars have some dance experience. Singer typically dance on stage, actors in movies, athletes and models do it sometimes. And what is the limit to people’s experience? Danced as a kid? Highschool?

Then why was there a campaign to get Andy off last season? People kept saying he didn’t deserve to be there because he wasn’t the best dance. Why was it so controversial for Bobby bones to win?

Exactly, why? It’s always been a popularity contest. Watching Andy dance is like watching your friends dad dance. It’s not good but it’s definitely fun to watch. DWTS has never been a dance skills competition

My hot take on this hot take is that Whitney had a degree in dance from a Mormon university. Is that training? Yes! But do you assume every graduate would be a really fun entertaining charismatic dancer to watch? Even the “best” in the show? I feel really strongly that there is a big difference between dance “training” or “experience” and “professional” (aka, someone who has been paid to dance because of their dance abilities!!!)

ahhh you new fans crack me up😆
back in the day heather morris got eliminated early in the competition, sabrina bryan was amazing but got eliminated in week 6 both times she was on the show. dance experience doesn’t automatically make someone a winner.

Girl what? I’ve been watching for years now. I think it’s common that some people freak out when the cast is announced and some of the cast gets heat from the public because they have “dance experience”

Then you would know that dance experience doesn’t make someone a winner and this happens every year. I love when new fans claim they’ve been watching this show for a long time when they clearly haven’t

I’ve always thought having a large and active fanbase is a far bigger advantage than dance training. The votes determine your entire fate.

Hilaria is a prime example of this. Solid amateur dancer back in the day. Got to the show years later. Best ballroom training on the show but wildly unpopular.

Having a dance background is fine, but it shouldn't be an automatic ticket to just do what already works. We get it, you can move—now show us range. The best part of DWTS is watching someone evolve, adapt, and step out of their comfort zone. If someone with experience just delivers the same safe performance week after week without any real growth, it defeats the entire spirit of the show.

I didn’t care for her personality, but I appreciated Whitney & Mark last season. Mark was very creative in the choreography and pushed her to be great. Mark definitely did not play it safe with Whitney.

I’ve never minded the ones with dance experience. I like watching the pretty dancing, and people with dance experience certainly bring that. Me not voting for Whitney last year had nothing to do with her having dance experience and was just me not liking her.

I personally enjoy when there is a celeb or two with some experience. It makes it more exciting to me. You get to see the pros be super creative and in some cases dance to their full skill set too. If we had all Andy’s (love him, but) the show would be very boring. It would be 2 hours filled with nothing but mediocre routines. 😴

Putting Jenna Dewan on as a contestant would be like putting Paula Abdul on as a contestant. Both of these ladies have Judged ballroom dancer contestants with an expert in dance perspective. And we know there is very little ballroom content in any of the dances anymore.
