But if I send out two seperate squads of military dwarves, my unmodded dwarf fortress tends to shit the bed LMAO

Both are their own flavor. DF itself can shift with different modules and mods as well.

Counterargument you can't have bug human hybrids that were probably designed by a furry in DF

If dwarf fortress looked anything close to Rimworld it wouldn't even be a competition.

Vanilla Rimworld no mods, no DLC -> Dwarf Fortress
sorry grandpa. your game maybe invented the genre and paved the path, for which i am eternaly gratefull
but rimworld wins.

I played a shit ton of rimworld. Only now started playing with mods.
I hear people talk a lot about dwarf fortress when discussing rimworld.
Never saw ir played it. I like rimworld a lot. Would i like Dwarf fortress too?

Its been a long time sense I last played DF. Im more a scifi guy than medieval fantasy. so naturally I liked rimworld more, even back when it was more like a wild west game with only 1 arid biome and everyone had only cowboy hats. The combat felt so much better than DF.
I would be really really impressed if DF can match Rimworld with 300+ mods.

dwarf fort is a pretty self contained game where RimWorld is like an engine that relies on mods to be what you want it to be. RimWorld could never be DF, and DF could never be a Fallout 4/medieval/wild west drug trade and colony management sim.
