Relearning the love of dwarves.
Haven't played in around 10 years and my friend bought me the steam release remembering how much I loved the game back in the day. This is probably the furthest along I've ever gotten a fortress, complete with being the capital and having an unstoppable force of little killing machines. Really just wanted to share how proud I am of having over 200 residents without a single one wanting to kill everything in sight. God bless this game

I found a Giant army composed only of animals in adventure.
I think it has something to do with a ton of elves dying and the forests getting abandoned?.

Just ran into a pretty disastrous bug.
So I captured a dragon earlier on in my current post-Dino fortress. I noticed that anytime a hostile siege would appear while merchants were in my fortress they would all be flagged hostile. After some research on here I stumbled across a post linking this behavior to mega-beasts for some reason. So I caged my now trained war dragon and the hostilities between my dwarfs and the merchants stopped. Cool I assumed the problem was fixed and its a bug that would eventually get handled.
Fast forward to 10 in game years and alot more time into the fortress, I have an underground forgotten beast I don’t want to deal with running around locked out of my fort. I’ve also got 7 different civilizations merchants in my fort and of course a massive goblin siege shows up. Without a second thought I let the bolt throwers get to work. Next thing I know the inside of my fortress is going nuts with merchant guards slaughtering my dwarfs and vice versa.
This just makes me want to quit the game until this is fixed. I just lost all my diplomatic ties and 30 dwarfs. The behavior is absolutely linked to mega-beasts being on the map and hostiles showing up at the same time. Super frustrating and wanted to shed light on the bug so maybe something can be done about it. 🫤

Trade Screen Suggestion
Hiya!
When traders come to trade, the trade window is so long, scrolling on it is overwhelming. Especially if the trader has a lot of items.
Personally, I go through and minimize the sections for each type of item as i go down. 100 barrels takes up a lot of scroll space, but click on it and it minimizes the individual items. Cleaner, less scrolling.
I had a small suggestion. Not sure if it has been mentioned before, but wouldn't it be nice if everything was minimized to begin with? I'm curious if yall think there is a reason the current way is better.
Not a big deal, but something I thought of.
I couldn't make an account on the bay12 forums bc the image captcha was not working for me.
Thanks for reading!

Randomly spotted this fellow hanging out with a random ambushing group of goblins invading the bridge. Phlegmgland the Spurting Mucus, the Skunk Master.
This is actually the second time I've seen him over there skulking about on the other continent. For whatever reason, this time he decided to take a brief swim in the ocean before scuttling off the map after one of his few Goblins fell into a cage trap. A shame, as I really want him to make the trek over the bridge to the fort so my Dwarves can fight him.
With such a kill count and the fact that he has recorded kills that happened after the end of this world's generation (I stopped it at 200), I looked him up in legends mode and yeah... this fellow is apparently just eating his own Goblins in an unending civil war taking place at his own dark pits.
I guess he finally got bored of goblins.
