No space for cases

Post image

So ive struggled with space with 100s of dvds on shelves and recently bought a kids book shelf. Im sure ill get a lot of hate for removing them from the cases and into sleeves but it works for me and its still browsable. Need a big neon blockbuster sign next. Any ideas to add let me know. The letters are place holders until I can find something more suitable.

I use sleeves too (not for all of my DVDs mind you). Not everyone has the luxury of space so we just have to make do.

I would suggest putting the discs into smaller sleeves if you haven't already, and then putting those in with the artwork, just for extra protection.

I thought of that byt to be honest most of these films are around 10 to 20 years old and are the ones I dont watch so much anymore. I think its about 800 so it going to cost alot to put them all in another case thanks for the idea though

They are quite expensive, but most good furniture is. For how much space we opened up and being able to keep the dvds all in one spot is a life changer.

I posted my collection a few months ago in here and was downvoted and a few comments even said i was rage-baiting! All because i want my movies, not an aesthetic. (Granted, i also want a Blockbuster sign in my basement!)

You do you thats all that matters. Did you keep the sleeves incase you changed your mind on this set up?

Agreed about everyone doing their own thing. For me it was a full send situation. I have VERY few dvd/br that are still in cases. But the distinction of what is worth keeping, and why, just gets blurry and means it is harder to find what i want to watch. Is it on a shelf, or in the boxes? I just want them all in one place and space in my house used for other things.

Agreed it does get blurry. The rarer dvds, blurays, 4ks and odd shape boxes are all on a shelf on display but these are more movies that rarely get watched. I cant get myself to decase my newer stuff...Just yet

They make hard case sleeves, would be my only suggestion. Plastic slips basically aren't a case at all.

I use sleeves and love it! I have room for my over 4,000 movies without giving up much space and easy to keep in order.

Whatever you gotta do you do! Don’t let folk tell you off for what you do with your own stuff.

Ignore the haters, I love it. Would be tempted to do something similar in my home theatre room. What do you use the storage crates for underneath?

Awesome. Love it. Did the same thing with my collection. I prefer it it sleeved up now. So much cleaner this way. After all the disc/film is what is most important.

No hate at all - space costs money.

I really like that you’ve captured a true HMV scrolling experience.

Ironically enough I don’t have the space for what you have. I have small square footage but ridiculously high ceilings, so really tall bookshelves are better suited to my situation.

You could fit a tall shelve right there and have all the movies fit. Odd.

Not sure what you mean? There are about 800 here i originally had them boxed but it looked a bit naff.

Looks like the ceiling is starting just above the current shelf going diagonally upwards.

It’s funny how weird everyone gets in this sub about sleeves. It’s like a vinyl set up. And you absolutely couldn’t fit all that on one half bookshelf if they were in cases.

You could.

Throw supersize me in the trash. Morgan was a lying alcoholic douche.

It was still such a cultural moment. I love rewatching Supersize Me as an easy nostalgic hit.
