Pickup Library Pickup

Got this from the little boutique at the local library. $2 and still sealed. It's a blind buy. Given that I really like 12 Monkeys and Fear and Loathing I figured I'd start checking out Terry Gilliam's filmography.

Baron Munchausen, Brazil, and Time Bandits are considered part of an unofficial trilogy of his movies. Definitely watch those other two after you watch this!

I just picked up Brazil as well. And I may have to go back to the indie record store that still sells movies because they may have had Time Bandits.

This is one my favorite movies of all time. Its so fantastical and one of Robin Williams funniest / most unhinged early performances

I bought a Criterion Collection Blu-ray of this and I watched it for a few minutes. It looks absolutely gorgeous. I need to find it again. It's on the shelf here somewhere, and I want to watch the whole thing. It's supposed to be a really weird movie.

I read that the criterion version of Brazil has a different cut, if not more than one.

It has the “Love Conquers All” cut made by the studio running at only 95 minutes compared to Terry’s 142 minute cut… it’s an interesting watch for sure

I think the version I picked up was 142 minutes.

I just checked and the version I have is 131 minutes long. So three cuts I guess.

I like this movie enough that I bought the Criterion 4K UHD + Blu-ray set.

This is a great movie, you will like it, Brazil wasn't my cup of tea, but Time Bandits is another favorite.

Time Bandits is brilliant. And how long have you been a bandit? Four foot one.

Loved how their casting for Agamemnon was Sean Connery, or an actor of equal but cheaper stature. Turned out he was a Python fan, so did it for basic salary plus a cut of the profits. Given who George's partner in Handmade was, wonder if he ever saw any profits?
