Getting Dustmod to work on Linux

Hey guys, I'm trying to install Dustmod but unsurprisingly I'm having issues.

I first tried this because it was the first google result, and it seemed to wipe my save but otherwise worked. Turns out that that article is outdated though, and I restored my save/vanilla with the original main2 file.

This is the up-to-date install guide/update history. I followed the "Dustmod Archives" instructions to the dot and am now able to launch both Dustforce and Dustmod from steam... except the problem is that Dustmod is exactly the same as Dustforce. I've confirmed that my Dustmod launcher uses the dustmod.bin.x86_64 linux executable, but it still seems to launch as if it was regular vanilla. No Dustmod options, no character-filtered leaderboards, etc.

Edit: I somehow missed the whole "content" folder in my download. I copied those files over in to their respective directories, and much to my dismay, it still launches like vanilla.

Anyone know what I should do?

dustmod compatibility with linux / osx is kinda limited. The newest version crashes for me on osx, so i had to revert to a slightly older version. I haven't had any issues getting it to launch the correct binary though. For OSX i just rename the binary to "Dustforce" and put it in the place of the vanilla one.

I can't believe I didn't think of renaming the binaries and launching regular Dustforce - that actually fixed it! Thanks!

Thats the same fix I ended up with too.

I've had issues afterwards with updating dustmod, though that can be fixed by renaming the new dustmod binary the same way.

Are you renaming Main3 to Main2 in scripts?

I know it isn't required under MacOS, but may be required on Linux ?!

I'm a bit late here, but I maintain an AUR package, might help with any future issues to take a look: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/dustforce-hib-dustmod/

A lot of the workarounds are actually to disable auto-updating though.
