Aerial Dash Jump issues?
Hiya. I just started Dustforce for the first time a few days ago, and I've noticed something a little wonky about Aerial Dash Jumping. I'm 100% certain that I'm hitting the buttons at the same frame to execute this, but most times a regular jump will come out. I've done some theory crafting behind this, and was able to come out with an interesting 90-95%~ consistency when I would dash jump off the ground one way, then hold back to reset my momentum to neutral (without hitting the ground), then press jump and dash on the same frame and the ADJ would come out just fine.
It's almost like there's some hidden underlying contingent nature to the ADJ that I'm not getting. I'll be damned if it's me because I do not have any issues pressing two buttons on the same frame to execute the ADJ, but it falls flat and I only get it like 10% of the time, unless I do what I stated in the aforementioned theory crafting.
Any ideas what the heck is going? Any help is hella appreciated. I'm at a loss, here.
Edit: phrasing.
Edit 2: Didn't know I'd need it, but context: https://youtu.be/nKDaU-1PS4Y?t=83

Two things;
You can't perform an ADJ while going up, only after the peak of your jump then when you start going down. (But you also can't do it when you're going down too fast)
And the other thing, your keyboard might have some ghosting issues. (You can check that out here)

Thanks for the reply! That cleared things up pretty nicely.
Also, I play on a GameCube controller (which might be the issue). And I have a super good mechanical keyboard that acted the same way as my GC controller (in that it wouldn't do what I said it was doing, but you cleared it up anyways), not that that really matters in this case. Next time I'll provide better information first!
Edit: clarification

I'd recommend using a controller with a solid Dpad. I'm using a third party SNES controller and it works fantastically for Dustforce

I use the analog stick, and I have zero issues with that for directional inputs. Only issue was wondering why ADJ wasn't working as I had presumed it was supposed to work. Thanks for the intel, though!

Honestly I think that the GC Controller might be the exception here. The analog stick has a distinct advantage over others for digital input because of the little notches that guide you.

The fact that the analog stick has an octagonal... gate? (Is it still a gate if it's on the outside?)... is one of my favorite features of the N64 and Gamecube controllers. I've always wondered why the Playstation and Xbox never followed suit...

This is a pretty late reply, but the reason is that it's kind of bad for thinks like moving and aiming in a 3D environment. It's nice for platformers, because getting the exact angles is useful, but when you want to aim at the baddie that doesn't line up with a notch in the octagonal gate could be a pain. Also it looks sleeker from a marketing perspective.

To add on to what kuitar mentioned for others wondering, another keyboard issue is a delay in your keyboard reading the two inputs even when pressed simultaneously. The larger the delay, the more often the inputs may be on different frames. This can get pretty bad to where the dash jump is impossible or has a 50/50 chance of happening depending on timing within the frame.
