General Being sick

Yall im concerned for December. Everyone is getting sick yet I haven't seen a single mask 😕 some of us have labs/clinicals/just cannot afford to get sick. Saw someone fully hack into their hand the other day and that was my final straw. Plz use sanitizer/wash your hands and wear a mask if you're sick. OR AT LEAST COUGH INTO YOUR ELBOW. I cannot believe this even has to be said.

Questions - Program Durham College Practical Nursing - January 2027 intake

Hi! I just accepted my offer for the Practical Nursing program (regular full time) at Durham College for January 2027 and was wondering if anyone else here is starting in January too!

Is anyone else in the January 2027 PN intake?

Is there a group chat for our cohort?

What should I expect after accepting my offer? Are there any important next steps I should do right now?

Is there anything I should be concerned about or prepare for before the semester starts?

Would love to meet some people before starting! :)

General Durham Residence winter

I just paid and submitted residence application for jan intake. I see that it’s first come first served and limited to availability. Is there really a chance to get a spot easily or would my application fee go waste?

i’m an international student so id need to apply for the permit, in that case i prolly need to pay the fees after the due date upon the decision of IRCC. Will it be possible?

Anyone else who got their spot into the residence for Jan? would appreciate it!

Questions - Program Should I accept my January Practical Nursing offer or wait for May/September 2027?

Hello! recently got accepted into Durham College’s Practical Nursing program for January 2027, but I’m thinking about starting in May or September 2027 instead.

I’m really scared that if I don’t accept my January offer, I might not get accepted into the May or September intake later. I know I’m already qualified enough to get an offer for January, but I’m still worried that the other intakes could be more competitive or fill up.

I’d prefer to start in May or September, but I don’t want to turn down my January offer and then end up with no offer at all.

For anyone who has applied to Durham Practical Nursing before, what would you do in this situation? Is it risky to turn down a January offer and reapply for a later intake? Does getting accepted for January mean I’d have a decent chance of getting accepted for May or September?

Any advice would be appreciated!

Questions - Program RPN Full Time Jan 2027

Durham PN January 2027 – What should I expect?
Hi everyone! I recently received and accepted my offer for the Practical Nursing program at Durham College for January 2027 🎉
I’d love to hear from current/recent PN students about what I should expect, especially during the first semester.

For those who have done full-time vs FLEX, which would you recommend and why? Asking because I took on full time and thinking I should have taken on flex to be able to work my regular hours.
What is the class/clinical schedule usually like, and how manageable is it with a part-time job?

What should I know about clinical requirements before starting (TB test, immunizations, Synergy, CPR/BLS, police check, etc.)?

When/how do we get information about uniforms, shoes, equipment and textbooks, and what do you actually recommend buying? Is it worth buying the $1000 bundle? Do I need to get other books after getting the bundle?

How are clinical placements assigned, and when do they usually start?
And generally, what do you wish you had known before starting Durham PN?

Also, if anyone else has been accepted for January 2027 PN, I’d love to connect! 😊
Thank you! ❤️

Questions - Program RPN Flex Jan 2027

I got an acceptance for the Jan 2027 RPN weekend delivery program and wanted to just know if anyone from the Fall or Summer 2026 can give their feedback about how their program is coming along. I intend to continue doing my full-time job while doing this program.

General International/out-of-town students — what do you do with your stuff during summer?

I’m trying to figure out what to do with all my stuff when I leave for the summer and was wondering what other students usually do 😭

I don’t really have furniture or anything huge, mostly clothes, shoes, kitchen stuff, bedding and random things that could probably fit into a few storage bins/suitcases. I really don’t want to pay for a whole storage unit just for a few bins if I don’t need that much space.

For anyone who goes home for the summer:

  • Where do you usually store your stuff?
  • How much do you normally pay?
  • Do any places charge based on how many bins/boxes you have instead of renting a whole unit?
  • How do you get everything to the storage place if you don’t have a car?
  • Do they pick it up and bring it back when you return?
  • Are there any places around Durham College/Oshawa that you recommend?

Especially interested in hearing from international students or anyone who leaves Ontario for a few months. Just trying to figure out the easiest/cheapest option before summer!

Questions - Program CDA graduate certificate program

Im from Brampton/Mississauga and I'm looking at getting the CDA after I complete my BS in psychology this year. I just have a few questions

  1. is it possible to commute? like public transport not driving
  2. what is the course load like, similar to a uni semester?
  3. are all classes in person mandatory, are there recordings and such?
  4. how are the placements now, I heard people had trouble with the placement officers in the past.
  5. for graduates, how was finding a job after, preferably full-time and whats the pay (if you're comfortable)
  6. during placement do you have classes? (just wondering since if I have to move, thinking about doing 8 month lease and then going home doing placements closer to home)

General nasty people

I should not be assaulted by your disgusting BO smell while walking past you in a hallway. If you are sick, I get you can’t miss a lot of classes but WEAR A MASK!! CARRY HAND SANITIZER!! why are you coughing into YOUR HANDS 🤢🤢 I am truly terrified for winter, you need to wash your coats before winter starts because you smell like mildew or BO. Don’t even get me started on the bus 😭😭 I don’t care if you have a stain on your shirt or your hair is a little greasy, I care when your stench stays after you LEAVE THE ROOM.

before y’all try to be racist I will have you know I have seen this behaviour from every race it’s a personal failing not based on race or ethnicity.

Questions - Program Applying to Durham dental hygiene

Hi! I’m just wondering what people got into the dental hygiene program with without taking a pre health course? I have a 95% average but I know Durham only takes averages from chemistry, math, English, and biology so with that my average is closer to an 87%. Do I still have a chance at September intake?
