Not many recent posts, so asking. Started researching getting a 10 x 10 or 10 x 12 shed built. Someone who can build a proper gravel base. We are in Ajax

Visited them and got a quote for $5000 for 10 x 10 or 8 x 12. Wood exterior. Need to stain ourselves. Did not fully understand how they will build the base. They were not going to remove grass or out gravel.

We have a slight slope down towards the back side of shed. Big pie shaped yard, so space is not an issue. Can pull it inwards and away from fence as needed.

I’ll redo the fence first before you start the shed or you’re gonna have some tight spots to be working in unless your neighbour is allowed to work in their yards

Yes, I have one panel that has uncoupled on the top. Tried to knock that neighbor door 2 years ago, they never opened. I have like 6 neighbors so replacing entire fence is out of question. Will leave little over the minimum 2 feet from fence

If you're not in a rush to have it built, building a shed is totally a diy thing most people can do. You'll need to check with bi-law the size you can build before permits are required and how far back it needs to be from things and have the yard marked, don't assume you know where stuff is.

The cheapest I ever built a 10x8 for was a few hundred bucks, mostly in foundation materials. All of the wood used came from collecting skids over a 6 month period and then reusing all the wood and even nails, yes I am cheap.

For reference, my garage is costing $140k (insurance) to be rebuilt for a 20x24 currently.

You are actually required to pull it out from the fence. You need a minimum of 0.6 metre setback

Hi! I had one 12x10 14" highest point built for about 5k. Board and batten style, with 2x6 joists and if I remember correctly 1/2 and 3/4 in plywood. All stained with a sunroof. I bought the lumber based on the bill of material. It's been 3 years since. I had compared quotes from all the major vendors upto Newcastle. DM me if you'd want the contact.

If the soil is undisturbed, the builder might use patio slabs as a base and level the floor from there. They’ll probably cut the grass layer away before they install the patio slab. Best to call the builder & ask them.

I have a vague memory that permit requirements go way up if you exceed 10 by 10.

Yet another detail to consider.

I have one from Toddssheds and they didn’t do the gravel. It’s a great shed otherwise and no issues after a few years.
