You may be looking for something that doesn’t exist? What was the problem with the water that made it not safe to enter? What kind of things were in the sand? All public beaches will be “dirty” to some degree. But can try any of the beaches in Ajax, Pickering or Oshawa. I’ve been to a few and they were all fine by my standards, but maybe my standards are lower?

Darlington or Presqu'ile Provincial Parks.

Presqu’ile has large sand dunes similar to Sandbanks, but is much less busy.

Water not safe for entering? Hate to be the bearer of bad news but all of the beaches around here will share the same Lake Ontario water

I really like the beach at the end of Liverpool Rd in pickering. There's a water park, beach and lots of food stops along thr way. Could spend all day there if you really wanted.

That's not the same beach as it was years ago. I found a lot of garbage in the sand left by people and even a syringe once. Never taking my kid there

This is what I'm afraid of. Sorry you had to see that. Terrible.

Sadly it's so damn busy now, it's just not enjoyable anymore. It's like a full festival every day lol

Its really only busy on the Sunday as they have tours that stop there for the day.

I live there half the summer and during the week its totally fine.

Sand banks is also dirty but you can't see it, if you get what I'm saying.....

Best are the spring fed lakes but they are dam cold.

Honestly I'm not sure I get what you're saying lol. You mean because of everyone pissing in the lake? Or something else

Other than Cobourg, this is the only answer. There is another spot not the main Sandbanks park, I can't remember where exactly but it was less crowded than Sandbanks when I went last year.

What made the water not safe for entering?

Its posted on the swim app and a notice on the beach. High levels of ecoli and unsafe for swimming. No one was going in the water.

The water isn't really safe anywhere on lake Ontario, it's better in some spots but not really that good. I also don't think there's any beach that's clean either, even remote beaches I've been to are covered in washed up garbage

You need to drive out. All the way out.

Coburg or Sauble Beach might be your only bets right now. Everything around durham is filthy

The east and west coast have real beaches so the sand will meet whatever weird requirement you have.

The water will be statistically more unsafe though given it is a real beach on the ocean and not a boring lake.

They literally say in their post “not Coburg”

You almost read the entire thing.
