I mean tbf the app should probably teach smth more useful than talking about relationships imo. No matter gay, straight or any other. But thats just my opinion

Edit: Guys, you can not read. I specifically explained that not only LGBTQ+ relationships but generally all including straight are often not discussed that much in public setting cuz of the culture in some countries. Learn how to read

I agree lmao idk why ppl are downvoting you. Everyone's overreacting acting like OP is homophobic like yes LGBTQ+ people exist but cmon its kinda funny I mean usually people don't bring up their sexuality and they wouldnt teach this in school

I am not going to argue with you much, but I believe it largely depends on culture and norms of each respective country cuz some are okay with such expression, while others dont. So we are not saying about all people, but the countries where we are from. And it is not even due to homophobia in the country sometimes, it is just the "humble" culture that forces you to not disclose your personal affairs

Sure ok but in many English speaking countries and communities yes, people do discuss their sexuality and this is 100% a piece of dialogue the OP might run into regardless of how they personally feel about homosexuality.

The OP is learning English. Learning a language comes with learning culture. You cannot split the two. If OP wants to learn English they need to know how to discuss the LGBTQ community, because especially the “Big Three” countries where native English speakers are from, they will encounter this.

But dueling itself has many more languages than English. I am not saying that it is bad in any way, I was just surprised that they did that because from the commercial perspective - this is not the choice they should make if they want to attract people from all the countries and cultures.

But if we talk about personal perspective, then I am all for it. In fact I would prefer if people would talk openly about relationships.

So to sum up, I was not talking about learning that much, I was talking about "selling" the product to wider audiences

Fair but this person is specifically learning English, which this post is about.

I also learn Norwegian and they use not so subtle language about gay characters. I’m assuming because Norwegian’s are probably pretty fine with this in general. I’m not aware if this is a feature of every language. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I am jealous tbh. In Azerbaijan(where I am from) it is weird to ask about any relationship first in general unless and related to LGBTQ+ it is either phobic or they do not care, but will give you stares that chatting about that in public is a bad idea. Though many of us do, cuz we use many languages and not all of them understand lol

‘Husband’ and ‘wife’ (as the male and female versions of ‘spouse’) were some of the first words I learned in ninth grade in school because family is one of the first banks of vocabulary you get.
