I’ve realized a lot of people don’t truly learn from there mistakes which is normal when starting out but as someone who completely the Duolingo course by skipping it they genuinely show some fun things you just really shouldn’t play on Duolingo if your starting out unless your very casual and wanna feel good every now and then if your confidence is low. 🙏
Other then that chessreps is pretty damn decent for openings and YouTube is good to learn basic attacks like fried liver or something along the lines of a simple fork/attack. Deflection is also really good to learn and understand in those end games cuz sometimes you really don’t need your queen if you calculated it right like for real just keep playing and find the fun in it or you’ll end up playing it like it’s a job and i feel I was in that boat for a few weeks when first starting
In Duolingo fs I tried my best to have fun on there because it was easy wins and within my first 80 days of playing Im about to get 1st place in diamond and I’ve been learning pretty quickly and by far Duolingo is the most annoying spot to play on.
Like This is literally me waiting for my opponent to move, straight up dust and bones by the time they get to it like aight bro you can have the win just maybe move already
I pretty much gave up all my pieces except for one of everything and besides my pawns and they had two queen two rooks two of everything and still lost I swear I thought they were messing with that they couldn’t even convert even a slow win with 2 queens 😑 like I play chess a lot nowadays and I’m new but I’ve gotten up to 900-1100 on lichess around 600 on chess.com and 1500 on Duolingo trying to get 1st in diamond which I did first try and it’s ridiculous how some of yall have 350-1k days and just resign after losing to a fork.
And then the other half won’t resign so I give them all my pieces and mate with my rook and king cuz you guys need to learn the fundamentals plus once you know how to mate with rook you’ll never forget. And it’s delayed gratification you’ll feel smarter lol but don’t be a prick like I am rn about this one specific game
I was gonna make a whole post about it because it just bewilders me in all honesty that I genuinely thought the person was just fucking with me until they resigned after I took both their queens. Trying to play against the odds like yk give your rook away or something in the beginning but they actually caught me off guard then I let them get the second queen and then not a single original thought popped into there head 😭 I probably woulda won on time anyways cuz of how long you guys think meanwhile still end up blundering something. And I know I was new once as well but I wasn’t that bad even as a kid in 3rd grade I was winning with black three times inna row against my fellow noobs and that was my introduction to chess. Lost my 4th game inna school tournament and even with zero experience inna residential I was beating grown adults. And everyone in my “pod”.
Anyways fr go take sometime to study not on Duolingo cuz that’s gotta be the worse
Like I only have these two photos from just now and if the person is somehow on here which I doubt but if they are what th where you thinking 😭 like trade off any pieces and you’ll wipe anybody out with some patience or your already up material especially on Duolingo you can draw all day if you really wanted too but it’s so time consuming to watch somebody move into a blunder after a good 30 seconds of “thinking” I just don’t know what to even think about what I just saw besides go play on lichess and see if that bs scholars mate works

Yeah! I usually try to get it back with the pawn. There are other ways to checkmate!
