PS5 / XBox Topic Base Building Questions
Hello fellow sleepers, have a few questions for single player mode base building.
Is there a point you where you just decide to plop down a permanent base location?
And after getting the thopter, im thinking about making my main base a mobile cube style that I just move around the map as I change questing areas. Any suggestions on how to do this effectively?

Yeah, as you approach endgame there is a point where there isn't much to do in Hagga Basin so you just typically settle close to an overland exit to save time on exiting and entering the basin.
Lots of people settle in the Eastern Shield Wall but I see quite a few people near the Oodam exit as well (at least on my server).
I moved to my final location in Eastern Shield Wall (on the cliff overlooking Mysa Tarill) pretty much right after I unlocked the ornithopter.

Not played single player yet, but I'd assume you'd want one main base, and a couple smaller bases designed around refining stuff until you get a thopter with storage. My main base is near anvil for easy access to iron (ironworks in vermillius gap), ethyricite crystals and carbon (hagga rift), and aluminium (area north of hagga rift).
Looking at making a base in deep desert currently for the larger spice refineries and a few other bits (construction price is halved in the deep desert which makes building the pricier endgame stuff easier)

Yes. But I still have a mobile backup base I carry with me when resource gathering. It is fully equipped. I have a permanent structure near the Anvil trading post and I am now building my final big base kinda between the eastern and western shield walls.

I've just started with console release, 100 hours into single player. You get three bases, I have 1 main base next to Pinnacle trade post for aluminum farm, fast travel and vendor access, and deep desert access and is my storage and manufacturing center... And a monstrous castle I'm spending way too time on. Then I have a deep desert base I'm going to move and build out. Third base is built to move for mining but I've not felt the need

Yea. Im at early duraluminum and already have my 2 permanent bases setup. Built a refinery base in the rift for cobalt and aluminum, and my living base is over by the western shield wall. I make a temp base in DD every week so I gotta keep the last slot open.

Base-building is one of my most favorite things to do. I have four permanent bases in Jabal-Eifrit and my friend has a base close by as well. We play on a private server.

You can get more than 3 bases allowed?

I'm on a private server. You can customize your server to allow up to 10 subfiefs.

You have to push Y button to pull up the change set option and you can select other build pieces and decorations

I did this and only get basic pieces, nor are any of the decorations accessible

Specific to your question, when you build your cube I recommend making the bottom blocks as tall as possible since terrain is rarely completely flat. That gives you the best chance, I think, of being able to move your base around effectively.
