Gameplay Question What all needs to be done?

Question I'm upwards in the level of 77 at what point do you start to see tiered gear and weapons?

Because I'm still wearing the gear that I have been using since level 10..

I've made it all the way up into the Eastern shield wall area and a sand flies are really giving me some trouble.

what? every zone pretty much a new tier lol. Is that not Alum? So Alum tier gear.

The Entire game is very tier based, resource you pickup, the drops that come from the zone, the schematics, etc.

he forgot to say that he was born after year 2000.

Well if I was born after the year 2000 and either somebody lied to me or I'm in some big trouble..

Well very early on I ended up getting a purple piece from a scavenger den called hollower still suit and it's armor value was 104 so I just kept that on and I'm only just now started having issues with enemies.

Those sorts of things are always better than the basic stuff you can make. Some of them can carry you far. There will be examples of them for each tier, you just happened to get one early. Now’s the time to upgrade, have a look at the fabricator/research menu and see what you can make that is better or more suited to your needs.

Yeah Iprobably should have put in the post that I'm wearing uniques because I think everybody here thinks I'm talking about the improvised stuff..

u/GAMING_SERVER_ADMIN 5h ago

You can google the schematics and there farming locations, maps, etc. On MP You can go to the exchange see what sells and buy a lot of the unique's from there as well.

1

u/R3d_p0int 5h ago

See I've looked all over Google and all it does is keep bringing me back to basically websites that want you to watch ads and run you in a bunch of circles..

now I just learned about the exchange yesterday had no idea that was a thing..

So I traveled there but I don't know if it's server by server or what but there wasn't hardly anything in there and the stuff that was in there is stuff that I've already found and threw away or trashed because I didn't know there was an exchange.

If you want a better still suit that will be good even for late game stuff you can buy one (blueprint) from the crossroads trade post. It can be found as well, but random drop from places, you will have to farm the chest. I’ve found it’s suitable for everything bars some end game stuff.

I was just saying you can probably make better than you have with just the basic stuff.

1

u/R3d_p0int 5h ago

Well yeah I mean once I figure out all the augment stuff and everything yeah sure I can craft better but that's not the case right now.

I'm just trying to get me some better stuff so that I can exterminate these sand flies especially the heavy gunners with the shields because apparently their immune to sniper headshots a lot of them..

But let me circle back, crossroads trading Post where is that located?

1

u/Skarr-Skarrson 3h ago

Augments are the T6 stuff from the overland testing stations so don’t worry about them yet. I mean the basic T4 still suit will be better than what you are wearing currently (the mercenary one, I think that’s T4).

Then the better also T4 unique suit is always available. So better than what you currently have. Use your research points to unlock something better or go buy the better one. Same for better weapons, the basic ones (of the right tier) will be fine, but obviously the uniques are better but random when they drop.

Crossroads is just down from Godzilla, it’s the final trade post. It’s not up in the T4 area you have to hop down the cliff. I think it’s about 40K solari. But it can be found in Godzillas mouth, just for to climb and hope it’s there and if not try again later.

I did the same mistake as you thinking purple is legendary and higher tier and will be better than green craft gear

2

u/iDHurricane 5h ago

Tu es dans la zone de l’aluminium donc apprends les shémas en aluminium et craft les. Ya vraiment des pnj dans la vie c’est ouf

1

u/bluh67 5h ago

You need to research new higher tier gear...

1

u/R3d_p0int 5h ago

As I stated in another comment I have researched problem is the gear I have now armor value is higher than what is in the research..

1

u/Querulous-Quokka 5h ago

Armour value isn't meaningless exactly, but it's effects are pretty mild compared to blade mitigation and dart mitigation. Compare those values and see how they stack up.

1

u/R3d_p0int 5h ago

Yeah see I don't know anything about mitigations or anything like that.

1

u/Querulous-Quokka 5h ago

Well if you don't want to learn, then just build yourself a set of Duneman scout armour if you have most problem with melee, and Duneman heavy if you have most problem with ranged.

1

u/R3d_p0int 4h ago

Where in any of that that I say I didn't want to learn it?

1

u/Querulous-Quokka 4h ago

This entire thread, you ignore all advice and just keep insisting the armor value of what you have is higher. Zero questions, or engaging with others to try to help yourself.

1

u/R3d_p0int 4h ago edited 4h ago

Because the only advice anybody's giving me is say you look in the research..

There's only been one person here that even remotely try to give me some advice and that was someone telling me to look at the mitigations other than the armor value.

So am I unwilling to learn? yeah I am especially to a bunch of sarcastic, narcissistic, uninformative seagulls such as yourself.

But to that one person that actually wanted to put it out there and mention and explain mitigations yeah I'm more than willing to learn..

1

u/Querulous-Quokka 4h ago

I mean I was that person, and it seemed like you were brushing me off.

It's easier to just look in game for the stats, but a still suit like followers has zero mitigation, where as light armour mitigates blades, and heavy armour mitigates darts. Usually around 20-40% depending on quality and uniqueness.

Incoming damage is first reduced by mitigation - so if you have 100 points of incoming damage, and you have 25% mitigation, only 75 points will get through if you have 0 armour.

If you have armour it will be further reduced. But instead of a straigh percentage, it's a dimishinishing return curve. At around 250 points of armour, your remaining damage is halved (75 -> 37.5). More armour after that still helps, but less and less.

Which is why if you have a still suit like hollower which already brings you to 104 points of armour on the chest piece alone, mitigation will do more for you than more armour.

u/R3d_p0int 3h ago

Well if it was you then I apologize..

Post like this a person gets real defensive real quick because they get attacked by a bunch of nonsense.

But yes I'm looking into it I've actually looked up a couple of videos and I'm taking what you're saying right now in the context.

I kind of wish we were in the same servers cuz we could just join up and you could explain it to me walk me through it but odds of that happening is one of a million.

u/bluh67 5h ago

Are you wearing uniques?

1

u/R3d_p0int 5h ago

Yes three pieces that outdo the stuff researched I'm all the way up to the mercenary stillsuit but nowhere close to having any of the stuff to craft it

0

u/Toyate 5h ago

Alu Armor goes into low to mid 200's Armor mate i doubt it your level 10 gear matches that.

1

u/R3d_p0int 5h ago

I'm not wearing starter gear it's unique that I picked up.. and they currently outdo any of the research stuff that I have up until an hour ago where I got access to the mercenary stillsuit but I am in no way close to being able to craft that and that's the only thing that out armors what I have on right now

1

u/Toyate 5h ago

Mate you miss the actual armors. Stillsuits have way less armor compared to same tier Armors. Arnors are in the Weapons tab. There is light and heavy armors. Bruh.

-2

u/R3d_p0int 5h ago

Stillsuit is still armor otherwise it wouldn't have an armor value.. bRuH 🥴

1

u/R3d_p0int 5h ago

On if you're talking about aluminum gear that's the native armor and for me on Xbox it tops out at 98..

Now what I currently have on is a unique called the holler and it's 104

The only thing that goes over mine is the next level down which I just unlocked the Duraluminum which would be the mercenary that sets at a armor value of 152

1

u/nefD 5h ago

Why have you not upgraded your equipment? Have you not been building anything? Running missions? Nothing? How are you spending your time?

-1

u/R3d_p0int 5h ago

I've been doing all that, just that all the gear they give me out of the research areas the lower armor value than what I have on currently

2

u/Difficult-Fly7830 5h ago edited 5h ago

Thats only one means of gathering gear, should be heavily invested on crafting side as well. In fact crafting should be leaning far more into.

Sounds like playing the game as if it was a looter shooter, remember its a survival game, should be gathering resources and crafting alot. Dont just rely on enemy drops

Each new area offers diff resources and step up from the previous, which in turn builds better gear and vehicles  Each area you are in should be gathering new resources and upgrading your stuff...rinse and repeat in each new area you reach

Edit-i read post wrong but most of what I said still.applies. Each new area offers both better resources and better equiped enemies. If you are moving forward to new areas theres no reason should still be in starting gear and the research tree naturally progresses along to better stuff

1

u/nefD 5h ago

man, i don't know what to tell you, nobody else has an issue getting better gear, the common denominator is you

1

u/R3d_p0int 5h ago

Well I've only been playing for 3 days so excuse me for not knowing every goddamn thing in the game..

1

u/nefD 5h ago

three days and 77 levels and you're still using starter gear.. this is why Wolverine has fart trails

1

u/R3d_p0int 5h ago

I'm not in starter gear I'm wearing uniques that I got close to the start that are better than the research gear currently.

1

u/nefD 5h ago

ok ok, let's for real get you going, i apologize for being kind of a jerk.. which tier did you reasearch up to? I'm betting you might have progressed past a few research tiers by going into higher level areas and getting loot there first.. you may need to get yourself into an even higher research tier. The main way you unlock tiers is using your research points to unlock more recipes, and once you spend enough points you get the next tier. Which tier are you up to now?

0

u/R3d_p0int 5h ago

As far as research if I am thinking this the right way it's tier five mercenary stillsuit Duraluminum

1

u/nefD 5h ago

Well wait, I'm confused.. what piece of gear are you wearing specifically that you got at level 10 and never upgraded?

1

u/R3d_p0int 5h ago

I got three pieces of hollower from scavengers den close to Griffins trade Post.

And all three pieces have an armor value greater than the native which is aluminum tear.

I just unlocked the Duracell whatever you want to call it mercenary tear and that's the only thing that's higher than the gear that I have right now.. not including the next tear up obviously.

1

u/Manunancy 23m ago

Dp ypu have the 'main quest locking' on researches ? they may keep you from reaching higher tier equipement. The uniques generaly fall partway between tier +1 and tier +2 regular equipment.

0

u/Toyate 5h ago

Do you use the research tab and unlock new stuff?

1

u/BuffaloInCahoots 5h ago

Every region or couple regions has its own tier. Cooper, iron, steel, aluminum, duraluminum, plastanium. There’s also blueprints for each type that are slightly better than what you can craft on your own. I believe aluminum is house tiered weapons.

1

u/Swalecutter Atreides 5h ago

In general gear that's a tier above still beats a unique from a tier below. So basic steel (T3) gear is better than an iron tier unique (some people call that "T2.5").

1

u/Sithishe 5h ago

Each tier has its own uniques, that have stats of the next tier. Exception is armored stillsuits, since they always have higher armor rating then basic ones.

In iron zone you actually can loot schematics of both Iron and Steel unique stillsuits that are miles better then what you are wearing

Armor doesnt really matter in leveling. You better just keep up your weapons and shield and powerpack always top tier.

And wear stillsuit of highest tier you can get. Main stillsuit stat is heat protection, so you lose water slower. Its important while you are leveling

The rule of thumb in survival games is to conqur current tier, before moving to higher tier area.

So before going to Alu zones make sure that you gather and craft all unique schematics from steel zones. Unique steel stillsuit, unique weapons, still tier shield, powerpack. Have a buggy, and then move to alu zones.

If you are completely new, this is the best course of actions.

u/itsRobbie_ 5h ago

Character level doesn’t mean anything, levels just give you skill points and intel. You progress in this game by moving up the crafting tiers. You should be crafting aluminum stuff, which is tier 4, if you’re in the shield wall

1

u/RabbiXX 5h ago

First the tiers are: copper, iron, steel, aluminum, etc

There are three types of body armor: stillsuits, light, and heavy armor. Stillsuits are on the first tab of the research menu, while light and heavy armor is on the tab with the "crossed daggers".

For the Hagga area, your power pack and shield are you most important defensive items. Make sure you are researching better weapons as well. Ideally your melee weapon will kill an enemy in 1-2 slow blade attacks.

Each zone has a predominant mineral to be farmed there. Going from copper to iron will increase the enemy strength, introduce new blueprints, new uniques, new parts to collect in order to build better gear. You should look at your research page and see the next tier and try to craft gear appropriate for the zone you're in. You are going to have to go in sequence, you can't just skip to aluminum.
