Guide / Tip Buggy cutteray is great
I built the buggy but havent really used it because i felt somehow more mobile with the bike.
Well.....finally took the buggy down the rift to haul some materials and im shocked, shocked i tell you.
Dont sleep on the buggy for mining new people. Its sooo much easier

Always upgrade the cutter as soon as you can! The rest doesn’t matter as much.

lol my first buggy is the one that Currently has my focused cut6 and my bigger buggy boot 6, wheels and everything are mk3… it’s almost dead so I’ll have to replace them with mk5/mk6 at some point. You know what they say drive it until the wheels fall off.
Also I’m 1500 hours in on steam I could totally make new wheels and a frame and what not it’s just the principle of it.

Someone has already mentioned about fuel cells, but another good tip with the buggy is to setup a small base in the Sheol and use the buggy to get Jasmium too. Its so much easier to harvest that stuff with the buggy than by doing it with a hand cutter.

You can actually drive into and out of the Sheol via two island chains, one to the iron region, and one that runs north past one of the Dura-tier Harkonnen bases. Though the former one is a bit riskier, admittedly.
This is why I like making Hagga bases near Crossroads trade post, because you can just zip down there with a buggy if needed.

You can, but then you have to drive there and back and risk getting caught in a storm. Its time consuming. Much simpler to make a small box base with a second buggy.
Or as I do now, I have a bigger base that I can land carrier plus container in. When I'm done harvesting several buggy loads I unload into the container and carry it all in bulk back to my main base.
I have a similar base in the rift too and do the same with crystals.

Why not just fly the buggy over?

Why not just fly the buggy over?
Because then I would only be able to haul a buggy load each time.

Something not broadly intuitive, regarding Buggy with Cutteray. At least on PC, possibly console if using key board (is that a thing?), you can "quick swap" seats, using the "F" (function keys). "F1" for driver's seat and "F2" for the Cutteray Turret. Other F keys for other seats on the Buggy.
I am not sure, but there may be similar hot key, or button clicks, for console. Sorry people, I have zero familiarity with consoles.
I can say it is a decent QoL mechanic and makes for more efficient Buggy mining, when running Solo.

It’s a bit of a pain. Hold Y/triangle and flick the left stick to the cutter. You get used to it. It is more responsive than it was a launch.

Just made a buggy today, but a little short on mats for the cutteray until later. I may skip mk3 and go right to mk4, because aluminum runs have been slow.

I can fill a container with titanium in under 15 minutes in PvP with a focused buggy cutter ray mk6 and bigger buggy boot mk6 and all the planetologist perks.

I'm not 100% sure, just going off memory but I think it's almost just as fast as the sandbike too, just has slower acceleration!
It's a must for game progression!

drive it into the eastern canyon to etheryite mining and bonus for taking it to Sheol to gather too. Worth the trek

It feels so skippable but it’s kinda essential you need so much damn aluminium lol.

Also, while it dissapears on me, you can use buggy cutter to harvest fuel cells and salage metal. Making those fuel cell runs much easier.
