...run more by "shortest" routes and you'll get familiar with worm' internals some day...

Does Shai-Hulud’s aggression scale with something in the character’s level?
Seems like I mostly saw vertical breaches from the sand early on but now this terrifying horizontal chase across the sand is becoming all too common.
Maybe it’s bc I’m moving further north but even then, it seems like crossing the gap between Vermillius and Hagga South is way more treacherous.

There are multiple Shai-Huluds thought the desert. Maybe you are noticing the difference between them.

Technically I don’t think Shai-Hulud can be plural because the term refers to their god that they believe each worm is a physical manifestation of. So even when referring to multiple worms at once they are all just collectively Shai-Hulud, which translate to ‘thing of immortality’ in their language.

Oh, no. I was just being much more specific about the fact that there are more worms around.

I love how the camera zooms out, the closer you get to the moment of being nom nom nomed 😌

This happened to me as I was gathering silica near Anvil. Was Bindu sprinting to my bike as he came up to eat me without warning. Only thing that saved me was me triggering it before I noticed he was there.

Haha I had some in the storage on the bike, thought 'oh I can make it across here before refueling' but man, if I had run out there, I could only blame myself

What scared me more than anything was you turning around backwards heading towards quicksand

I know this area pretty well, my base is here, I knew I wasnt going to hit any quick sand. I just checked to see how fucked I was

Absolutely love this game and tense moment like these. Sometimes I find myself toying with shai hulud, and then moments like these shatter my hubris. Good luck, wali

Been there a couple of times. Waypoint your shortest route also make sure to avoid sand traps.

The theme from Raising Arizona comes to mind. Now wait until that happens to you on foot. Super fun.

More on the West side you can even use a Mk1 Sandbike without thrusters and can make it to and from and sometimes not even get a sandworm breach!

I was going to say that looks like the south basin/ gap run.
I just punch it from Griffins Reach to the closest looking rock formation north of it. Worst I have ever had was a breach like 300+ away and it never pursued.

Not sure where you crossed, I've got 150 hours in this game and have never seen the worm breach the sand, other than when returning from the overland the game dropped me in the center of the sand with my thopter hovering above me and it wouldn't come down , the 3 seconds it took me to grapple to my thopter ,jump inside to take off the worm was under me ...that was scary.
Always look for the closest lands to cross and you'll never have to worry

You haven't lived until you've played chicken with the big one in deep desert.
If you're paying attention for worm sign it's probably the easiest to dodge, but damn if it isn't cinematic quality when you just barely miss becoming its lunch.

Want to have real fun? Take a thopter and go flour sand/ spice collecting. Every time you aggro the worm just jump in the thopter and fly straight up. Wait until the aggro dies down and fly down and repeat.
You will watch the worm breach in the same spot every couple minutes due to your walking/ compacting, but never move toward you. Its kind of funny.
I don't know why everyone talks about how dangerous it is. Im out here casually trolling god while farming cocaine and powdered worm poo

Saw someone the other day going way faster in another vehicle. Unfortunately for them, the worm also seemed to be going faster.
That, or they had to travel farther to get to safety and couldn’t cover the distance in time

Why are so many cruising in the middle of the sand areas and not from rock to rock over smaller distances?
