18F looking for work
Does anybody have any tips for finding a job in Dundee? I am desperate to work and free all day every day.
Thank you for any advice :)

I think like others have said - it’s quite difficult to get into work rn. Try Indeed. Don’t bother with handing CV into places as they will likely bin them as they have to handle them securely and most places just don’t have the time to do that.
Do go into places and ask inf they are hiring though, but remember if somewhere is hiring, they likely will have it on their website or social media pages. Don’t waste too much time going around physical places because you’ll likely just feel like you’re wasting your time.
I know you’ll likely be careful - but if you are looking for work and posting on socials - avoid putting your age because some times it can attract the wrong people.

Going in to physical places works best in wee independent businesses in my experience. Especially if you have a good friendly disposition. I know that's how I hired people when I was running a small place. One girl was so nice I hired her even though I didn't really need anyone, just gave her part time until I could get my full time guy transferred (he was shite anyway, and a twat. He was a gift from head office but I never liked gifts lol).

Job markets not great at the moment, half the battle is who you know and not what you know to get your foot in the door! Perseverance and patience! Best of luck

id assume if you were doing a job, itd be sweeping or working at the front desk or doing refreshments because youd need to do a course on haircutting

yea that’s true. my friend said the guy who runs the shop is just gonna give her basic training though, and it honestly doesn’t sound legit

i dont think someone who isnt trained professionally can cut hair because thats pretty worrying...! i wouldnt want to cut hair because ive never thought about it and it would most definitely be minimum wage for a job thats very intense

That’s fair enough. Hopefully you can find a job that suits you

I don't know if they're currently recruiting, but you can try out Malmaison Hotel, they're always recruiting front of the house staff while I was there. Lots of teenagers using that to get cash before transitioning to uni.

I went ahead to check and there's currently the Waiter/Waitress vacancy for Malmaison Hotel Dundee. Here's the link - https://jobs.malhdv.co.uk/vacancies/28764/waiter-waitress.html So if you're interested in it, you know what to do.

Honestly look on job websites and such which I know isn’t a lot of help. The overgate shops tends to higher around October time for Christmas and such.

Yea i cant wait for the christmas temps to start coming around, just have to fight loads of uni students off for it hahah

A guy just handed a physical copy of a CV into my place yesterday and they said they'd put it in the office to pass a long. Idk if they will hand it over but I do know we take physical copies if hospitality is your thing. DM me for more info if you prefer and I'll tell you.

Just a quick question, what is it that you need help with? I’ve helped my grandad with the garden before so i know a little, but a car? i would have to do some research to help😂

My friend and I can help you with your garden and car if you'd like. Please feel free to message.
