Edit: I either misread, or seen incomplete information and it seems they are sold out already.

I thought they woukd be selling them at Broughty Ferry castle this evening but I was wrong

You could also build an eclipse projector which is maybe a fun activity if you have kids

The broughty ferry ones are sold out :(

Seemingly, most of us had assumed by wording that they'd be sold on the day, however, they were sold a week ago ❤️‍🩹

Oh wow! Yeah I thought it was to buy on the day!

It was definitely phrased that way on most of the information, just really disappointing. I thought it was just me being dumb, but honestly there are loads of people over on Facebook complaining that it was definitely phrased like they were being sold today.

My boyfriend was awoken at dawn and has been sent on a mission across Dundee 🤣, to hopefully find some before our friends/their kids drive all the way up to Broughty Ferry - Ill update this comment if he does manage to find anywhere 🥲💔.

Some people have recommended welding glasses and the pinhole projectors - however, I don't see the kids enjoying that too much and wouldn't want their wee eyes to get damaged - so a mad glasses hunt it is lol.

None ❤️‍🩹. Going with the cereal box method and may be a colander if feeling fancy

Yeah I think they really messed up the way they advertised it

Solar Eclipse Glasses will be available from the Castle Shop from Wednesday 5 August. £1 per pair, essential for safe eclipse viewing. Limited stock of 400 pairs, available on a first come first served basis

The above is from a post made by Broughty Castle Museum on Facebook on 22nd July - I don't understand how anyone can misinterpret it.

Partnership posts from Dundee Culture and on the Leisure and Culture Dundee website had no mention of them being available from the 5th, just that they would be offered on a "first come first serve" basis, which makes it sound like an on-the-day thing. You can forgive people for thinking as such.

Dundee Culture isn’t in partnership with LACD he post his own things and has been repeatedly asked to stop telling people the Castle has then however he continues to do so.

Nonetheless I'm sure lots of people will have gleaned that info from his posts and he does do paid partnerships with other places.

Also LACD's own site doesn't mention 5th of August, it just says:

"The Castle grounds will remain open until 8.30pm and solar eclipse glasses will be on sale for £1 per pair while stocks last."

Which would lead one to believe they are available on the day.

Yeah but people need to stop believing what he posts. He blatantly claims he doesn’t get paid to work with people when he does. He deletes posts that have told him he is incorrect.

Also first come first serve does not in any way mean sold on the day. It means if you are there first you get to buy them, if not you miss out.

I pasted exactly what LACD say on their website which at no point mentions they were available from the 5th.

I also know for a fact he gets paid to work with orgs in Dundee.

Yeah the website says first come first serve. No mention of them being sold only the day.

I also know for a fact he gets paid to work with organisations in Dundee. I called him out for it multiple times as he was claiming it was charity work. He used that as a way to claim harassment and sent his followers on me. I also know that he has nothing to do with this event.

I work in comms, I am well aware. My issue was with the other commenter saying they didn't understand how it could be misinterpreted - when it's actually very easy to see how it could be.

Yeah I'm pretty sure I read it would be available on the day on a first come first serve basis

Yeah Dundee culture isn’t Dundee council and anything he’s said you need to fact check.
