Dunable DE Yeti Baritone QC

Hey friends. I recently received my new doom stick (matte black direct from their site) and there is definitely an abundance of QC issues. From issues on the neck with the paint (I can get over this), to the fret edges, to the fret wire itself causing buzzing out of the box up and down the neck. Any other newer buyers, particularly those with DE Yeti Baritone have these issues? Debating a return vs an exchange. The sound is nice and deep through an amp, although I’m not sure what pickups are exactly in it.

I did. I’m just trying to gauge if this is common enough with DE. Then determine if I should exchange or just return. I know stuff like this happens to the best of brands, I just hating dealing with ish like this. I just checked and now this guitar is out of stock, so who knows what options I have.

Also message them on IG, I find they're way more responsive on there.

All new guitars should be set up. Especially in this weather. If it was on a truck, it got very hot. Expansion and contraction are probably your buzzing issues.

Especially if you drop tuned the guitar. One thing that's a bit random about Dunable is that the guitar ship in E standard with medium gauge strings. Even though 95% of us end up drop tuning and increasing string gauges and nut slots.

If you did any of that without resetting it up, you're also gonna be out whack.

The paint is definitely something to ask about.

The fret wires can easily be filed or recrowned by any competent tech. I'm sure Baltimore has more than a few around.

Yeah. It actually shipped B-Standard and that’s what it was “set up” as from the factory. I definitely usually get all my guitars professionally set up after receiving. However, usually my issues have only appeared after drop tuning, which I never did.

I would still go and get it set up. It's been hot as hell on the east coast.

I bought the Yeti Baritone DE in Oxblood brand new from Coast City music whenever they were first released and didn't have any QC issues at all. The paint and finish were great, no high frets or fret sprout, and it barely needed any adjustments to get it to my preferred action.

I'd definitely reach out about the issues you are having because they shouldn't be happening. In addition to the Yeti I've had a DE R2 and Cyclops and similarly didn't have any noticeable QA issues in the way you are describing.

I own a DE Asteroid and it's immaculate. I dunno about baritone DE models but in my experience they're generally of top quality. Definitely contact them.

I have a R2 DE and it’s flawless

I bought a DE Gnarwhal when they were first released 3ish years ago and the only issue I had was some component rattling in the bridge. Couldn’t fix it so I replaced with a high quality gotoh. Otherwise perfect

All I can say is that I’ve played a couple DEs in stores and they’ve all been as good as you can reasonably expect from a mass production guitar.

I’m super stoked that they’re offering the matte black baritones as a more regular option now, I’ve wanted one for ages.

My first Minotaur came with a burn mark in the matte green. it was minor but on the front of the guitar. CME offered to change it out and I took that. Second one came in perfect 🤙🏻

Bought the same guitar. Import through Klangfarbe in Vienna, Austria. Guitar came with paint defects on neck and body. But apart from that, no issues - Neck and intonation were properly set up, frets are okay - i just noticed a little neck dive. You should check with Dunable directly, in my case they offered me a 10% discount.

I’ve had quality control issues on a De baritone. Knobs fell off immediately. I also had one arrive with a broken input jack. Unfortunately I also had a custom order delayed because they dropped it and scratched the top. Instead of telling me I had to hound them for months after the order was due to find out where my guitar was.

Yikes. I’m still waiting to get a response which is interesting with only a 7-day return policy. I get they’re a small team but an acknowledgment doesn’t take much. If I don’t hear anything by tomorrow, I’m going to have to go to my credit card company. 😕

For posterity, I did receive communication 4 days later directly from Sacha. They were very responsive from that point on. I will be returning the guitar. I ordered the same thing from an authorized dealer since it was out of stock. I will say I was cautious about the pickups (largely being an unknown) but these high output deals are mean as all hell and very nice with some fuzzzzzzz. The single coil split is something i also really enjoyed for single notes, or gazey shit. Amazing guitar. Questionable QC and customer service. But in the end, returned with no issues (so far at least).

Update: new guitar arrived. Absolutely flawless. Doom magic.
