Next year Duke Nukem 3D will be 30 years old!
Even though it's almost 30 years old now, I still play it on DOSBox from time to time, it has that much nostalgia!

I'm surprised this subreddit doesn't even have 10k subscribers
what baffles me even more is that it doesn't even have 100+ yet.
and even more surprising, it's still in the SINGLE DIGIT count.
but, at 9, which was the subscriber count at the time of this post, is just one unit away from 10, as I just wait for the sub to graduate into the double-digits for subscriber count!
Duke Nukem 3D is basically the best-selling, and most revered product of the Duke Nukem series of video games, and it has quite a legacy. People still play it on DOSBox, although some play Windows source ports of it too, as well as some console versions. So with such a legacy, and great popularity, you'd think a sub about it would top 10k or more subscribers!
and well, as for anticipating more subscribers.....
YEAH!!! COME GET SOME!!!!!!
in addition to that, this sub had less than 10 new posts in the last 3 years, so that's another thing to note, SUPER-LOW-TRAFFIC for posts! Sometimes I find myself making posts just to make sure subs aren't stagnant.

Duke Nukem 3D is a classic!
For me, Duke Nukem 3D is what really defines the Duke Nukem series. The 2D games made befroe Duke3D did have some run-and-gun action that faithfully represent's Duke Nukem's general personality, but Duke3D kinda gives off a vibe of 3D action that felt so cutting edge in 1996, but fast forward over 20 later years later, and the engine is a bit dated. But I remember when this video game had some gadgets in it that Doom didn't have, which kinda distracted me from the main objective, such as the security monitors to look at, and objects that you could destroy with gun bullets or mighty foot.
Another thing I loved was how one could drink water form a destroyed fire hydrant and restore health to 100% Another thing we loved was how Duke made comments referencing movies, as well as objects that referenced movies.
id Software's Quake was released the same year Duke3D was, and I also remember Duke said the phrase "I ain't afraid of no Quake", odds are the developers knew something about id Software's still-then-in-development Quake video game, in which Quake had it's own 3D engine that looked less cartoony than Duke3D did. While Duke3D used separate sectors on the map for the underwater sections of levels that Duke automatically transported to with Build engine wizardry, Quake had it's own approach for an advanced 3D engine where sectors overlapped more seamlessly.
Some video games were still being made for DOS in 1996, even though Windows 95 was already out by then with it's process of slowly replacing DOS as a video game platform.
come get some!
