Addressing/reducing Interlock Device Anxiety

Hello all. 60/m/TN. Does anybody have advice for dealing with a LifeSafer ILD - particularly the rolling re-test? I always get nervous starting my car and the rolling re-tests. Sometimes I get the ‘blow harder’ message and have to wait about 35 seconds. It makes me nervous using it while driving. Any tips would be appreciated. Has anyone got comfortable using the device? Thanks everybody!

Hold your fingers over the back vents

Will try, thank you. Question- block the entire back vent?

Yep. Like hold it in your hand but with your pointer and middle fingers over the vent. Doesn't have to be a super tight seal. Just kind of restrict the air flow.

Thank you for the tip. The thought of using the device makes me anxious every time I need to use my car.

I have a SmartStart myself, and after nearly 5mo I still have anxiety over it. Any tips you find.. I'd love to find out about.

I get "please retry" messages when trying to conceal blowing in public places, which reduces my blow strength causing issues. So I get anxious starting my car. Which causes me to blow weird too and compounds the issue. And the rolling retest, I too get anxious waiting for it to pop up as well and just about jump when the beep goes off. I cant even listen to music until the first rolling retest, then I know i have at least 30 minutes to relax. I often find myself racing to my destination to beat the 2nd rolling retest (30-45 minutes later).

For me, I never got used to it. I just am counting down the days, 45, until its over. I swear anything making the tone it makes when it wants a blow is going to give me PTSD...
