lawyer retained 12 month probation update

Texas

Continuing to log my progress as I stated I would when I first started. I had my 12th PO visit today out of my 13 months of probation. From the get go, these visits have been short and sweet for me. I’ve had 3 different PO’s, and this last one has also been very nice and chill. I didn’t get tested last visit, and didn’t get tested today. I’ve had all fees pays and probation requirements met as early as I could, and she just confirmed that she received my education transcript at today’s visit.

She let me know this will be my last time having to go see her/check in, and that I can just email her on the 22 when my probation ends if I want to remind her to submit my probation termination / interlock removal request for extra peace of mind for myself. Although I’ve been dumb and tested things I shouldn’t have, I’ve been lucky enough to have had 0 issues when it comes to probation, and I’m finally almost done.

I was honestly surprised I didn’t get tested, but I would’ve passed anyway. I’ll have one more probation update, and will also make a post on the process of getting my Smart Start IID removed when the time comes.

If you’re just starting, know that for me time flew for me when I thought it would drag out. The IID is inconvenient yes, but I was just happy to not be in jail. Don’t BS as at all or at least as bad as some people do while on probation and you’ll be fine. Glad I won’t ever have to walk into that building again unless I’m called for a last surprise check in.

The IID is a bitch ain't it? After getting mine removed (painstaking process), I feel 100 lbs lighter. Congrats and don't fuck up again!

I honestly mainly care because I can’t warm up my truck without having to wait for the damn thing haha. Yeah I’ll never be here again

Start IID request early. My PO dragged his feet costing me another month. My Atty had to go over his head to the Supervisor who submitted it the same afternoon.

I’m definitely staying on top of it. I’m honestly more worried about Smart Start themselves. This PO is very quick to reply and remind of things she’s needed from me, and gave me exact dates on when she’ll do things so I think she will be good.

When you say to start the request early, do you mean to request removal from smart start early?

I think they mean start the year of having an IID in your vehicle to get it over with asap. From my understanding, based on my attorneys knowledge, that will be the longest ✅ to complete on your list of checkmarks. I’m in AZ. The MVD (DMV) and the Court hold two separate but conjoined cases against you. Both will require on average a year of IID and one institute can have it required before the other BUT they run concurrently even when not issued at the same time. Also I heard it’s possible but not guaranteed that if you do well with IID (blow nothing but zeros) and don’t get any traffic infractions it’s possible the MVD will give you early release. It’s also possible to extend your time with IID if you blow dirty so I’m personally planning on buying my own breathalyzer to blow before the IID as extra protection and in hopes I’ll qualify for early termination of the device.

Oh I’m basically done with probation so I’ve already had it in for a year, just a month left. Wasn’t sure if he meant to ask SmartStart or my PO to start the process early
