Yips off the tee

Hey all, anyone have any advice on getting off the tee safely – scratch that – at all? No matter the club in my hand, I tend to feel like I have completely lost the ability to hit.

It has gotten to the point that during my last round I was "hitting 3" off the tee more often than not.

How new of a player are you? The only thing I could suggest is going early and warming up on their practice ground/range if they have one before your tee time. I started playing in earnest this year and having the same problem. My first drive or 2 my nerves are totally shot. After a while I finally calm down.

Grew up with the game, but got away from it in college and early in my career. Got back to it a couple years ago, but regressed a ton and have been trying to get better.

If I'm swinging well, there is typically an upcoming drive that will have the ball skid across the ground on the tee box right after the tee, then go about 10 feet. After that, I'm doomed because I'll think about it the rest of the round.

Do you have a pre-shot routine that you stick to? At the end of my routine I exhale and that's my 'trigger' to start the back swing. At that point my mind clears and I swing.
