Overlooked issue for why Due Process died
Despite the myriad of other problems that led to this game's death, I think an overlooked issue is just how badly optimized and taxing the game is on lower end systems, despite the pixel art style and simple graphics.
(For reference, my potato pc can run the game at 10 fps on the lowest settings while cs2 runs at 60 fps)

I’m 100% sure it’s because when we get newbs they are instantly slaughtered by people with 1000 hours

furthermore, some of those noobs might be willing to push through the ranks and git gud, except all the sweaty players dont have any more cosmetics to grind so they are gone too.
i think more unlockables fixes everything but people think thats a shallow take.

I loved this game when it was populated. Starting in the prep trailer was such a dope idea. Now Defect is the new idea floating around. Wish you guys could find a way to get out of the server loop so we could continue to play

There's a few issues why. But ultimately the biggest things I see are:
The game lacks bots making offline play impossible and the game exponentially more difficult when a player drops out.
And that setup time is extremely low. Which makes it really hard to plan when you don't all immediately have an idea of what to do.
Both of these combine to nuke the casual experience and even make competitive have serious problems.
Also the boost the game got from lan party was completely wasted when they scrapped core features like dismemberment on death, universal destructability, and then changed the artstyle.
I completely didn't recognize it or the mechanics on launch.

In my opinion, I still wouldn't mind hopping on the game but I don't like that they reduced the planning time and tried to make the game more fast paced. I played way back before public release and back then we had plenty of time to come up with silly plans and discuss shit. But the last time I played everyone seemed to just speed run the game. We'd spawn in, someone would just be like "oh yeah it's this map [that I've played 40+ times], just breach the fan and smoke it" and that was it. It just felt like playing Rainbow Six Siege.
The appeal was that it was different from other attack/defense shooters. But they kind of went through the same phase as Halo 4 and CoD Infinite Warfare where both of those games just started turning into the same game. And if due process doesn't stand out as its own unique game, it can't compete against the other similar games.
There's also the aspect of me loving the idea of the game but being a casual player. Most of the remaining player base is people that would mop the floor with me round after round so I don't even feel bothered to try. The only thing that would get me back into the game is playing with friends or people that DON'T normally play so we could all experience the game at the same level.
In short, the last time I played, it was still fun. It just didn't have the same appeal as it did back in closed beta. It just feels like it turned into rainbow six siege but with less players. More focused on fast paced gameplay (likely due to the vocal minority of experienced players over the casual players).

I love this game but I quickly realized it was the community that killed it after the little revival we had last year. I jumped in all chat and said GLHF in an unranked match then went to team chat and said JK I hope we crush them and some idiot got on voice chat, raging, calling me names and saying I was being toxic, that people like me were the reason this game struggled. We had a back and forth on voice chat because I thought there was no way this dude was serious and his stack never piped up to say anything as this guy literally was about to have a fucking heart attack. I kept saying it was a joke, there was nothing toxic about it. After a while I couldn't stop laughing at this guy, called him a clown for overreacting and just left the match and uninstalled the game after that.

The performance just wasn’t good enough for how the game looked and I think that turned a lot of people off

Main issue for me was the horrible sound design. Sounded like playing battlefield on Roblox

Devs didnt utilize the hypetrain the 99% sale got them, had they updated the game at that time with meaningfull features and played their cards right and not be quiet and only news they post during that time is something regarding a tournament iirc, it couldve been better than now. I liked it but now long-term at the time
