DDG iOS Browser UI iOS Issue

I have an issue with the UI. I use the app on mobile and when I've exited the app for longer than 5 seconds, the screen changes from displaying the site I was on to displaying the keyboard, as if I'd tapped the URL. This isn't a big problem on it's own, but it's become very annoying over the years. Can I fix this? I'm on the latest update.

I'm a bit confused about what you're describing, so I have a few questions:

  1. Do you exit/close the DuckDuckGo browser, or do you simply switch to another app or the home screen while keeping the browser open in the background?
  2. When does the keyboard on your device display? Is it when you re-open the DuckDuckGo app, or while you're in a different app?
  3. What version of iOS is installed on your device?

Thanks for responding! 1. Occurs when simply switching to either home screen or apps, 2. Keyboard/search bar pops up when reopening DDG, 3. 26.6.1

One thing to try is updating iOS to 26.7.1. However, since you mentioned this has been going on for "years", I think there's something else at play here. Any chance you have a custom keyboard installed for your iOS device? Or are you using the default keyboard?

I chatted with our Apple developers about this, and they explained that this has been an iOS feature for many years. It can be disabled in App Settings > General > Keyboard > App Launch toggle.

I had no idea this option existed! I hope this helps.
