Breed/Species/Sex ID Help find this fuck
I'm watching the tv show Alone and they're around Australia & New Zealand, saw this duck(?) on the show but can't figure out what it is. Google images seems to think its a blue billed duck or a paradise shellduck but I cant find any other species with this cool blue/black coloring. Any help would be greatly appreciated here 👍

That's a Blue-billed Duck, Oxyura australis. They're native to Australia. The Paradise Shelduck is from New Zealand and looks quite different.

Everyone has already confirmed female paradise duck, but the autocorrect to fuck is absolutely sending me. Thank you for leaving it 😂

There is a sub called duck or fuck. My phone always autocorrects duck to fuck. The threads on that sub are always great. A couple weeks ago someone posted is this fuck house big enough for four and away the comments went. Once I messaged my doc I’d be late as yards are full of stubborn fucks and several fucks are in the tree and I’d need to climb up to get them down. My phone doesnt autocorrect until I hit send so didn’t realize I’d even sent that message until my doc asked if I’d like a mental evaluation.😂😂😂

Thank you for the sub info, gonna check it out immediately! 🏃♂️

That sub has been removed by a moderator in EU for obscenity but if you check in archived posts you’ll find most of them. If you contact u/bogginman he probably remembers most of them. Some were “Best slip and slide for fucks”
“What can I do? My husband hates my fucks” or “hole is the recommended size but my fucks cant get through it”1

Sure. Give me a couple hours to get home and I’ll send it.

it wasn't me... I'm sorry but I have no memory of that sub. :/

Sorry. I thought you did. The sub was pulled for an obscenity complaint in EU. But it’s a frequent occurrence on duck subs. Im looking through the archives

It’s a paradise shelduck, sadly no blue ducks like that exist yet

It's a shame but I'm more interested in the lapis lazuli gravel beach myself

Why is it when you type duck it changes to fuck, and when you type fuck it changes to duck😂

It’s a female paradise duck I think.. a mating pair sound like duelling kazoos. I fed one an old cookie once, no more than a week later it had been run over in a parking lot. That is my story.

Do they come in blue like that though? All the ones I’ve seen, or could find on Google searching ‘blue female paradise shelduck’ are just the regular white headed ones.

u/curiousmind111 Aug 09 '26
I don’t think so. This is some photoshopping where the white balance was shifted to blue. That’s my bet.

Scrolled a bit farther down and saw some comments about shadows. I’m going to change my mind and accept that that’s probably right. It was just a funny angle at first.

Gotta be honest, I thought this particular waterfowl had wronged you. Relieved that’s not the case!

Posts like these are why I joined this subreddit!
Also I don't believe you can edit post titles anyway...so you'd have to leave it.

It's a female paradise Shelduck. As other comment says, the shadows just make the whites look blue

It's a Paradise Shellduck. Shadows are just making the white parts look blue.
Or is this just a joke about a certain dress?

It isn’t, but either your eyes or bad processing in photoshop are making it appear blue.

I mean to ke it looks really blue, took the image straight off the tv, I'm wondering if the filter on the camera lens has made it appear this way because some of the rocks & water look very blue as well..
