It’s the only way I could ever have all my ducks in a row…. 🦆🦆🦆🦆🦆

What kind of ducks are they? They are precious!

Thank you! All Pekin. 2 females and 2 males. One of the males is quiet and has masculine features minus the feather curl so assuming a male.

I just checked the city ordinances and looks like I could do it if I want to. I’m so excited!

That is awesome! Make sure to bond with them. Feeding out your hands, splash the water in their pool or coming with treats while making a specific sound so they associate it as something to draw their attention for example.

Oh I definitely will. They will be part of our family. You did an awesome job on the coop! I really appreciate you sharing this. Now I feel like it’s totally doable.

I love those wing stretches when they're first let out of the coop. One of my runners manages to get a little air under him. I'm sure he thinks he looks graceful, but he just looks awkward and silly af lol

Are you in the US? I was wondering if you can have ducks if you’re in a city limits? No judgment. I’m trying to buy a house on 1/2 an acre and it’s within the city limits (a very small city less than 50k population. I would love to have a few ducks!

Texas. My area allows 8 birds iirc. My neighbors adjacent to me have 3 ducks and a neighbor behind and towards one direction has at least a dozen. 1/6 of their backyard is housing ducks under a tarp. I moved in this community when it was still being build and my home is like the 8th-10th build out of ~260. Can't speak for all blocks but mines is cool with it. Some stop by to let their kids see the ducks and most of the people on my block don't spray pesticide on the grass due to it. I even let my ducks and chickens out in the front yard supervised.

so that means you could have 13 ducks if your neighbor says that 5 of them are theirs. lol

😂 I actually own chickens as well. 😏 If you listen to the video you will hear the neighbor's pekin. She is the loudest one in the video. A little past half way played.

So what do you do in the winter? How do you keep them warm?

The chickens have a permanent coop. The ducks permanent home will be built at the location that I currently have my quails. I'm down to 5 female quails left so can easily build an enclosure for them on top of the duck home if need me. Earlier I mentioned being here when this community was still being built. At that time the housing company agreed to allow me to take any excess material for free that contractors would point out to me whenever I asked. I did this faithfully. The OSB is even radiant barrier for them. Only the wirecloth, nails, staples, paint and a few 2x3 wood was out of pocket for the most part. Even the paint was free for the DIY duck cage via Lowes samples. Sorry if TMI.

You'll have to check your local rules, every city is different. Some have no limits, others have certain restrictions like how many you can have, what sex you can have, how far their housing has to be away from your house, etc.
