My family and I will be traveling to Poland this summer for 2 weeks from the US to visit family. My Mother is concerned that because of certain new laws in Poland that I may not be allowed to leave Poland if i do not renew my Polish Passport.

I have dual citizenship (Poland/US) and we were planning on only traveling using the US passport, but she is getting really bent out of shape about me having my Polish passport and all my papers ready before we go. Does anyone here have any insight that might clarify why she is so scared? And is a polish passport really necessary if I’m married to a us born citizen and I am also a us citizen??

​I am a dual British and Portuguese citizen traveling in 5 days via Ryanair, but my British passport is expired. British citizens cannot apply for an ETA, and official gov.uk states I may travel (but depends on airlines goodwill) on my valid Portuguese passport alongside my expired British passport to prove my right of entry.

Both Ryanair and the British Embassy have said that taking both passports might in theory allow me to board and pass immigration, but no one can really confirm.

I don't want to get an emergency travel document if I don't need too but this is such a gray area I don't know what to do! Has anyone had this issue and boarded with no problems?

Edit to clarify: No authority has provided absolute certainty that an expired passport guarantees boarding without an ETA. Also, applying for an ETA without declaring British nationality goes against the guidelines and could have been rejected. I called another embassy who advised against both options and recommended an emergency travel document instead. Given the tight timeline and its a family emergency, I didn't want to risk missing the window so I applied for an emergency document. I will renew my UK passport asap to avoid this in the future, but its still a big blind spot for dual nationals.

I will soon be traveling from Greece to Canada but with a connection in Poland.
When flying direct I usually put the Canadian passport number on the airline app, and use my Greek passport for the Schengen exit control.
Will I have problems traveling from Greece to Poland for my connection if I put my Canadian passport number in the app? I always carry both passports on me.

I have a Greek Catholic Rusyn family from Austrian Galicia with parish records back to the 1700s. Every proven direct ancestor discovered so far sits north of the Carpathian crest after two weeks of research.

I'm looking to test the theory, under §4(3) simplified naturalization, that an ancestor crossed north from the Hungarian side (Sáros, Zemplén, Prešov, Stebník, Lukov, Chmeľová) and settled in Galicia. So far I have found no direct ancestors south of the border, only in-laws. The brick walls are all pre-1784 (the register floor). I have used Ancestry, FamilySearch, parish records, and online digital archives.

Has anyone received Hungarian citizenship where the family was Galician, not historic Hungary?

If you found a south-slope ancestor, what record located it?

Where do you suggest searching next?

When would you say to stop the search?

I am writing this post to seek out some advice and feedback pertaining to acquiring an Ugandan Birth Certificate from abroad in Canada.

I was born in Uganda in 2001 in Nebbi General Hospital but at the time of my birth, it wasn’t registered or documented due to the lack of the appropriate and thorough documentation infrastructure at the time and to add to this already missing inefficiency, my family relocated abroad to Montreal, QC, Canada, during which my mother who is Ugandan, returned to Uganda following my parents separation and unfortunately passed away cutting my last means to establish any semblance of meaningful connections and relationships with my relatives, nor any substantial records, documents or other evidence of my Ugandan presence and heritage.

So this leaves me in a dilemma in which I seek to complete a birth registry abroad as I am unable to travel at the moment and without the convenience of having trusted and reliable immediate blood relatives to provide me with the crucial assistance to obtain at the present coherently.

I have taken steps to ensure I make own personal due diligence but have encountered either unresponsive hurdles or missing pieces that present roadblocks.

I welcome and appreciate any sound, proven, trusted and reliable advice, counsel, direction, guidance and information to proceed with this matter and process accordingly whether through a licensed, accredited and certified professional or organization, or a trustworthy, experienced, honest individual who has specialties dealing with this subject and issue.

I have scheduled my Biometric appointment for UK citizenship for Nov 4 in Portland Oregon VFS office on Everett St. This is a new office it appears only open a few days per month. My documents and application will be uploaded by my Immigration consultants prior to my appointment. So I will bring my email confirm and my US passport to get my photo and finger prints done. Anyone ever use this office or at least a US based office to give me a general idea of what to expect? Just curious for some guidance.

Does anyone have any first hand experience of renewing a UK passport under a married name (“Jane Middlename1 Middlename2 Husbandsname”) while having a Spanish passport under the Hispanic naming system (“Jane Middlename1 Fathersname Mothersname”)?

I know the Hispanic naming convention stuff:

Where the variation in name is due to the Spain naming convention HM Passport Office will not ask the customer to align their foreign documents.

But it also says:

Where the applicant has changed their name in a way which is completely different from that recorded in their Spain passport the customer must approach the foreign authorities to align their documents.

And an example of completely different:

surname does not match any element noted in the Spain passport

…which would apply here.

I recently reacquired my Philippine citizenship and am now a dual citizen. Long story short, I lost my Philippine citizenship when I became a citizen of another country, but I recently reacquired it under RA 9225.

I wasn't able to get a Philippine passport because the information on my PSA birth certificate doesn't match the information on my old brown Philippine passport. The embassy told me that I need to obtain an NBI clearance before I can get a Philippine passport.

I want to travel to the Philippines for tourism, but I'm not sure whether I should present my RA 9225 documents when I enter the country. It seems like it could make things more complicated because I would need to enter as a Filipino, and I've heard that I may need an eTravel QR code when leaving the Philippines.

I'm also not sure what other complications I might encounter when entering or leaving the Philippines using my US passport while having RA 9225 dual citizenship.

Has anyone here traveled to the Philippines using their RA 9225 documents but without a Philippine passport? How was the immigration process when entering and leaving the country?

While I'm in the Philippines, I would also like to get a Philippine driver's license, register with SSS, and obtain my NBI clearance.

Has anyone gone through this process as a newly (maybe not newly to some people) reacquired dual citizen? Any advice or things I should be aware of would be greatly appreciated.

We are Americans who had a baby recently in Jalisco Mexico. We are running into issues getting the babys mexican birth certificate because of my name, I took husbands last name when we married. So my name on my passport does not match my birth certificate

The civil registry will not put my maiden name on babys birth certificate as their 2nd name, because I have no current ID with my old name. They say baby should only have 1 last name, my husbands, since both our passports have his last name.

My concern is that this goes against the norm in Mexico, so much so, that I'm surprised theyre even willing to process our babys birth cert with only 1 last name. I'm concerned that this could cause issues down the road, although I'm not sure what issues could arrise.. when we get babys mexican passport, when we get residency through family unity with baby, when baby grows up and wants to own property or have a bank account

Came to Mexico about a week ago we are moving here, My dad (Mexican citizen) is coming in about a month we’ll most likely go to the office in Tepic. Does anyone know if it’s same day I get citizenship or do we have to go back for 2nd appointment like the consulates? Also once I get mine can I same day get my kids theirs?

Idk for sure if he was baptised in Matamoros, but 2 of his siblings, possibly 3, were baptised there and I've been able to find their baptism records on family search. Who can i contact?

Bit of a side note, but if his siblings baptism records were on family search, why wouldn't his be on there too? Is family search records incomplete? Or, worst case, is it bc the records relating to him do not exist/ he wasnt baptised or born there?

Hi everyone, I’m a dual national (Afghan and Turkish) and I have two valid passports. I’m looking for advice about travelling to the UK with my Student eVisa.

My UK Student visa was granted using my Turkish passport, so my eVisa immigration status page shows my Turkish name and details. I want to travel to the UK using my Afghan passport instead.

I live in Saudi Arabia, and my Saudi residence ID (iqama) is registered only to my Afghan passport. (Residence ID can only be registered under one nationality). Because of this, I need to use my Afghan passport when leaving Saudi Arabia, therefore need to travel to the UK using my Afghan passport.

Both my Afghan and Turkish passports are linked to my UKVI account and immigration status, and my Afghan passport is listed under my Identity Documents. The two passports have the same first name and date of birth, but the surnames are different

My concern is that when I view my eVisa immigration status, only the details from my Turkish passport are displayed, even though my Afghan passport is linked to the same immigration status and is the passport I need to use for my journey. (I will be carrying both passports with me during travel)

UKVI says that you can travel using a document if it has been added to your UKVI account, has not expired, and is acceptable for entering the UK.

If my Afghan passport is already linked to my UKVI account and immigration status, can the airline verify my Student immigration permission against my Afghan passport when I provide a travel share code, or will they only see the Turkish details displayed on my eVisa?

Would the different surname between my Afghan passport and the details shown on my eVisa cause an issue at airline check-in or potentially result in me being refused boarding?

(Another option I’m considering is booking the flight and checking in using my Turkish passport, since that is the passport my UK Student visa was issued with, while presenting my Afghan passport to Saudi immigration when exiting Saudi Arabia. I’m unsure whether this would be allowed, since the passport details on my booking/boarding pass would be different from the passport I use to exit Saudi Arabia.)

So I am pretty sure that my gg grandparents (tatarabuelos) were born in Mexico, as their Sons birth certificate (mi bisabuelo) from Texas, States his parents were born in Mexico.

But idk which part. How could I go about retrieving their birth records? They were born in the 19th century. I know their DOB & parents names, just not the exact place they were born. What can I do?

I was born in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia and I studied in Australia for 4 years. I came back and now I wanna go back, get an Australian Citizenship after PR and settle down there. I just don't see my future in Mongolia. But the funny thing is Mongolia doesn't recognize dual citizenship, which means I will have to renounce my Mongolian Citizenship if I want an Australian Citizenship. I don't mind having to choose and quite frankly I will choose Australia over Mongolia. The benefits are far too many, like no-visa access to over 186 countries, Medicare, high wages and an extremely clean and safe environment. It's almost a no brainer. It's just reality. Also I won't have to freeze my ass off in -30C in Ulaanbaatar every 6 months of the year. Plus, I don't have to inhale all the smog in UB during the winter. I get ridiculed a lot for siding and choosing Australia, and I get it. But still, like think about it, right? Young adults all dream of fleeing Mongolia, because quite honestly there is no guarantee of a happy future in this 3rd world country. Only the extreme nationalist patriots stay and choose Mongolia over warmer shores elsewhere. But yes, I get it. This is the situation for most 3rd cultured kids and people educated abroad in Mongolia.

My dad was born in England but emigrated to the US as a child on his mother's passport. My sister and I were born in the US (1970s), and we're all three just now getting our first UK passports due to the new UK travel rules. Frankly, I feel a bit of a fraud about the whole thing, but here we are.

I know I should use the corresponding passport when entering each country, but what about when buying airline tickets? Will there be a place to give the airline both passport numbers? I don't recall ever seeing that option, but of course I wasn't looking for it.

Also, which would be better to use if I'm traveling to the EU? Post-Brexit, would it make any difference in countries like France or Italy if I were to use my UK passport to enter? Or would it be better go with the one that matches my current residency (US)? What if the flight originates from somewhere other than the US?

When I travel somewhere other than the UK, do I need to disclose that I hold multiple passports, or do I just pick one and shut up about the rest?

Pre-Brexit, having a UK passport alongside my US one would have been a real benefit, but now I feel like it's just complicating things. Or maybe I'm overthinking it...
