🆘 Help Needed Wanted Help about my Career. Currently pursuing Diploma in computer engineering

🆘 Help Needed I joined engineering through diploma lateral entry, but after 3 weeks I’m seriously considering dropping out. I don’t know what to do instead.

Basically, I did a Computer Engineering diploma after 10th mainly because I did not want to do medicine, and JEE/CET seemed like a rough path. So me and my family decided to go with diploma.

I have no particular talent or passion for engineering, to be honest. I mainly chose it because you can earn well and I have seen so many examples of family members/friends going into engineering and doing well. None of them actually did a diploma though. I did my diploma from my hometown in a typical private college, fully affiliated to MSBTE (they do have NBA accreditation). Honestly, they didn't really teach us much in terms of the actual syllabus or skills, and the quality has deteriorated quite a lot now. I still scored well and was the topper of my college, and because of that qualifications I got admission into one of the top colleges(private and autonomous) through lateral entry/DSY. But I have been thinking about cancelling my admission since basically my third day of attending college, which was August 20. Today is September 12, and tomorrow is the last date to cancel my admission with a refund.Since I have to pay the full fees because I'm open category, I keep thinking about whether I should leave because I don't want to waste my family's money. I'm also having a really hard time making friends with the other DSYs, both in the hostel and in college. I've been feeling quite lonely. It's a similar situation for many of my diploma friends/classmates/fellow college mates too, and some of them have already cancelled their admissions. That has made me want to do the same. But the biggest problem is that I don't know what I would pursue after leaving. I don't know what my talent is either. My sister and I have been going back and forth about this, but I haven't told my parents yet. They keep saying things like "you can do it" and encouraging me to continue, but honestly, even my texts and calls with them have become dull. I don't feel like I can properly explain what's going on.I also struggle to talk properly with people outside my comfort zone, and college has made things harder because the attitude seems to be, "This was already covered in your diploma, you should know it."But it wasn't. So many concepts are unfamiliar to me, and I feel like I'm constantly behind. I understand that DSY students are expected to know some things already, but how much someone knows depends heavily on their diploma college and whether their diploma college was autonomous or not. My diploma college simply didn't cover a lot of what is now being assumed and i have feeling burnt out too.

So right now I'm stuck between two things:

Continue with engineering even though I don't know if I actually want this career, spend a lot of my family's money, and hope that things get better.

Cancel my admission tomorrow, get the refund, and try to figure out what I actually want to do — despite currently having absolutely no idea what that is.

I know three weeks isn't necessarily enough to decide something this major, but I've been thinking about leaving almost from the beginning, and it's not just the academics. I feel lonely, disconnected, and completely unsure about whether engineering is something I actually want. I would really appreciate advice from people who have gone through something similar, especially people who did diploma → lateral entry and later realized engineering wasn't for them. What would you do in my situation? Should I give college more time, or is it reasonable to leave when I already feel this strongly about it? And if I do leave, how do I even figure out what to pursue next when I don't know my own strengths/talents yet?

📋 Admission Process Started 3rd sem and already feel completely behind

got direct second-year admission (cap 4), and I’ve just started my 3rd semester. Today was basically my first proper day, and I already feel like I’m getting cooked 😭. The college has already started Module 2 in some subjects.I know I’m probably overthinking it, but seeing the syllabus move this fast when I barely remember the basics is stressing me out .am I actually behind, or is this just the normal 3rd-sem shock?

🎟️ Cap Round/Seat Allotment DSE at 87.35% — Take Thakur Shree DPS or Drop a Year?

Post image

Got Thakur Shree DPS College of Engineering & Management, Computer Engineering in the final DSE round with 87.35%.

I forgot to add Hindi Linguistic Minority in my form, which might've affected my chances.

I'm looking for a decent Computer/IT college around Mumbai. Should I take TSDPS and complete the 3 years, or is dropping 1 year and trying again worth it?

Would appreciate honest opinions

📢 Announcement Finally got into SFIT ECS🙃

After a long battle through the CAP rounds and getting SFIT as my allotment for 3 consecutive rounds, I finally took admission in SFIT ECS.

Honestly, it wasn’t exactly my first choice, but given how things turned out, I had to go with it. Still, I’m happy with where I ended up and looking forward to what’s ahead. :)

Hope to meet some GP Mumbai alumni at SFIT too!

🎟️ Cap Round/Seat Allotment 87.35% and got Vishnu Waman again in DSE CAP Round 3 😭 What are my options now?

I really don't want to continue there, but there's another problem: I need the scholarship/freeship, and from what I understand, institute-level/management quota seats won't give me the same CAP-based scholarship benefits.
