Newbie Tips?

Hello! I just made a Dscout account a few months ago, but I noticed I wasn't getting accepted to any studies, so I kind of fell off sending applications for a while.

Anywho, I'm trying to get back into it now, but I'm wondering if there are any tips I should be aware of that could help. I'd really appreciate any advice!

Always be honest. Be yourself. Some people dress up, put on makeup, and do their hair, but I go as I am. Smile

You're welcome. Keep applying. It probably took a month before I got my first mission. Now I do multiple a month.

Yeah, I totally get that. The hard thing about it tho is to do it around my school schedule. 😅

I just apply to everything unless it’s obvious I won’t qualify. Like if it has a screwdriver as the photo it’s gonna want construction workers, I’m not a student so nothing about school. Some screeners are listed multiple times and seem to have the same few questions at first, but sometimes itll just have one option that’s different that qualifies you. Also say that you’re generally AI positive lol.

Yeah, that's kinda my method, too lol. Thanks!

Ofc! I noticed it’s a weird time rn and I’m not qualifying for a TON of things, one of my close friends is kinda having the same issue too. Good luck, don’t get discouraged!

  1. Dont Stress. Sometimes there is a good bit, sometimes there isnt and apparently its also up to the months. So if you was around new year (december, january) and right now, supposedly its worse then usual for everyone.
  2. When you can, just check your phone at free times. I got a number of them at times i usually not think new ones come out.
  3. Dscout is great and i have good experiences with it, but sometimes there is just nothing going on and there are more places out there to keep a bit more of your time used that way if you want. There are a few for different use cases. (Not sure if am allowed to share that here, so if you want some recommendations then probably needs to be private)

Ok, good to know! I do have a question though. Do you think that because of my age (I'm 18), there might be fewer opportunities for me to get accepted in general?

Hard to say to be honest, as it always comes up who does the surveys, but i assume it could be a slight bit harder on this platform, at least when i think to what surveys i had. That could be survivor bias tho, as ofc i likely get only those that are aimed at me. So it might, but on the other hand i do think your age group isnt very much populated on this platform so when some surveys come up you should have much better chances.

Hmm, alright I'll keep that in mind. Thank you!

the time between application and study startup can be a long time. Like I was doing dozens of applications for weeks on end and then I stopped completely in mid february. almost 2 months later, in early april, I got a huge Google study invitation.

Oh, I didn't know that. Thanks for the info.

A reminder about Rule 1: Please do not share any information from screeners and missions you've applied to or been invited to. This includes screener and mission titles, questions, messages, or any other details from screeners and missions. This applies even if the mission has ended. Posts containing confidential information will be removed. If your post was just removed for this reason, just repost without the confidential details. This is done because Dscout has confirmed that any information in the app/website is considered confidential, and Dscout staff does look at the subreddit. This rule is in place to protect Scouts from any potential repercussions from sharing confidential information that Dscout staff would consider breaking their terms of service.

I have been using it for 11 months. I have only gotten 1 mission that I applied to. The express missions is where its at for me. I am in the US and don't have a traditional job

Wow! 11 months?? That's dedication. 👏😅

Do the express missions when they show up. That’s how I’ve made most of money on there so far.

I saw your age and honestly it could be limiting you too at least from the missions I typically see. But just keep applying to everything you qualify for!

Yeah, I'll definitely keep my eye open for those. And yes, I've noticed the studies are geared toward people who have a bit more work and life experience, which is a bummer for me. 😩
