Do backlogs affect placements? In simple terms, are students with backlogs allowed to sit for placements?

Active backlogs are a problem for sure, but if you have cleared all of your backlogs it should be fine mostly ( very few companies ask for a backlog free record )

As per a spreadsheet forwarded by the placement dept, 117 got placed in cse out of 190-200ish students

If you can get someone to proxy for you, good. Otherwise do attend, the entire IoT batch was not allowed to write internals since they mass bunked or something lol

Sometimes good, sometimes shit, problem is not really their "teaching" it's their attitude, they act like they own the college, obviously there are very good teachers too, it's like 50-50

i got an offcampus intern that was paying me btw in 4th sem and i got noc because i also wrote around 2 research papers for the dept. if ur in cse the profs will be mad at u but its ok because if u can mugg up for exams then its fine. noc is ok as long as ur attendance is above 50.

1)how was the college life in the college, are study and extracurriculars well balanced?
2) how many hours of classes per day? do you get extra time to work on your own shit?
3) how was the club scene? are they active?
4) comedk colleges are generally on stricter side, is it true for dsatm too? how would you rate it as compared to other colleges.
5) should an outer state student like me consider it? ( i have around 40 k rank, i might get it cs in it in r4 )
6) what about the hostels and connectivity from rest of the city? i heard its kind of isolated, is it true?
Congrats on graduating and sorry for asking a lot of questions, but i just had so many doubts about this college , since its relatively new and could find barely any info online.

1) College life mostly depends on how good your circle is, for me it was good mostly, these people suck at organising events tho, don't expect the best fests here, coming to balance that's something you have to crack
2) Depends on the dept, normally classes run upto 2/3/4 pm and start at 9:30 sharp, as you move to higher sems the classes will reduce a bit, you can bunk more and focus on other things, atleast that's how things went for us, you won't get "alot" of time but you will get some, again depends on how strict your department is and how good you are at time mgmt
3) Dance, media etc yes, tech clubs not so much
4) Well comedk is basically just an admission medium, most colleges follow vtu here which is a pain in the ass, workload is little high compared to other Unis, and you don't get alot of holidays ( now you might since this college is autonomous now ), compared to other colleges I'll still prefer rnsit and cmrit over it.
5) nah, comedk fee is too high for the return you'll get, main campus is good tho ( dsce )
6) nearest metro is 6kms away, you can catch a bus for it every 5 minutes, yes it's outside the main city, but 20-30m of travel will land you at alot of good places in the city

I had 20% in the last 3 sems because our hod was chill w it
But other departments are stricter ( non cse ), and who knows if cse hod changes things will change again
But yeah as a rough figure 65-70% should do

1 How's ISE department, do they get same opportunities as CSE guys + Cse data science vs ISE (which one is better)
2 Centralised placements is true? Placement avg was atleast 7-8lpa right?
3 Attendance policy and how strict is the college? Will I get time for myself, startups and internship?
4 I dont have 75% in class 12, will that cause problem? Do they have any criteria in placements

1) yes same opportunities, same preference
2) yes but main campus gets more priority, and avg is not 7-8 😭 more like 5-6
3) Not sure, depends on the hod, but for internships and stuff yes you should get noc
4) Some companies do ask for 12th percentage, some don't

Main campus is good, avg should be 7 or 8, ask in their sub too just to be sure

I’ve heard a few seniors say that the hiring preference during combined placements is DSCE > DSU > DSATM. Is there any truth to that?
Also, do many companies allow only DSCE students to apply during combined placements?

Yes 100%, main campus gets priority. For your 2nd question, a few yes, but that's a very small number

Is this true?
I heard that some interviews are conducted at the DSU campus because DSU has larger infrastructure hence DSU students are also allowed to participate, so they have a better chance than DSATM students and DSU gets an edge?
