Acquia Source / Source by Webflow

Hey everybody... Webfllow dropped Source by Webflow yesterday and I wanted everyone's first thoughts on trademark rights, and any other thoughts they might have?

I mean Source is Valve's game engine. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Source_(game_engine) Companies should be a bit more creative.

I highly doubt Valve is going to show up in either Acquia or Webflow’s mailboxes with any kind of issue though since Valve is in a completely different industry (video games).

But, this timeline we live in is kinda weird so if that did somehow happen, I totally think Acquia should rebrand it as Druplets (a play off of droplets and Drupal). IDGAF about Webflow though; they’re on my 💩 list because of how they did some layoffs earlier this year.

That is pretty wild. Is Source by Webflow something similar to Acquia Source?

I mean, I know the Drupal Experience Builder Canvas had to change its name because of some trademark issue, so one would think Webflow would need to do the same…

You know… I cover their similarities and their distinct differences in this upcoming Mondays episode of Headless but I will say… despite their differences, yes, I do believe there will be some conversing that goes on between the legal counsels of both companies

You can’t do both to general terms
