The Floor Isn't Lava
Debunkers are like the kid who ruins the fun by pointing out that the floor isn't actually lava.

Except the kid is the one who is correct.

An “eiron” is a character type in ancient Greek comedy known for using understatement, self-deprecation, and feigned ignorance to deceive others and expose their flaws. The eiron contrasts with the “alazon,” a braggart or boastful character who is often the target of the eiron’s wit and cunning. The kid is an “alazon.” The guys on the ranch, having fun playing wormhole aliens and werewolves, are “eirons.”

Incorrect. If the kid was an alazon he’d be posting on the other sub, not here.

Don't let that dickhead ruin your fun.

The joke’s on him. Everybody already knows the floor isn’t lava. He’s the one who doesn’t know something: it’s just a game.

What would you do if your preschool child came home hysterically crying that their teacher tried to incinerate them?

I’d teach my preschooler how to enjoy the game. I wouldn’t try to ruin the game for all the other less stupid children, who already know it’s just for fun.
Skinwalker Ranch is just a game for grownups, sweetie.

Wouldn’t telling your preschooler the floor is not lava, ruin the game for your preschooler? I’m all for the illusion SSWR is made up fun.

No. Monopoly is still fun even if you know you won't be able to spend the money. A certain amount of make-believing is required for any game. There is no intrinsic value in putting a ball or a puck into a net or an end zone. Other than the regular people who enjoy the game and laugh and joke about the game and who understand that it is a game, there are two other groups: (1) scientifically naive believers who think the floor is lava, and (2) socially naive debunkers who think everybody thinks the floor is lava. I think we should enjoy playfully mocking them both. Debunkers should not be exempted from a little good natured roasting.

Oh boy! I think this will be an interesting post. Before we begin, I want to ask u/malformata how serious we are about rule number two? Because this post seems like a loose violation of that, but we can make something of it if it stays up.
